If we could secure the rights to show the original Halloween (1978) at the drive-in sometime in October, would you come out to see it?

Michael Myers. The original Halloween. On the big screen. At the drive-in. In October.

We're looking into making it happen, but nothing is official yet.

🎥 CALLING ALL FILMMAKERS! 🎥

Our Halloween Short Film Contest is coming to the Joy-Lan Drive-In Halloween Movie Marathon on Friday, October 23!

Have a scary short film you think deserves to be seen on the big screen? Send it our way.

SHORT FILM REQUIREMENTS:
• Horror/Halloween themed
• STRICTLY 15 MINUTES OR LESS — due to our marathon movie schedule, we cannot accept films over 15 minutes
• Submit in MP4 format
• Selected films will need to be provided in DCP format

DEADLINE: SEPTEMBER 15

Please take the September 15 deadline seriously. We need plenty of time to review the films and make sure the selected shorts are completely ready for the big screen.

This isn't as simple as receiving a file and pressing play. We need time to load and test each film on our theater equipment and make sure the picture, sound and formatting all look and play correctly. There may need to be some back-and-forth with selected filmmakers if we discover an issue or need a different file or format. Being willing & able to do this is critical for the film's success!

That's why we need your film in our hands by September 15. This gives us plenty of time to work with you, correct any issues and test everything again before the October 23 marathon. We want your film to look and sound its best when it's playing on the big screen.
