What a way to kick off the year!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our annual Welcome Bach Picnic! We had an incredible turnout, and it was so much fun seeing our Bridgeland Orchestra students together again outside the orchestra room.

We’re grateful to everyone who came out, connected with friends old and new, and helped us start the 2026–2027 school year on such a high note.

If this is any indication of what’s ahead, we are in for a phenomenal year!!!

Welcome Bach, Bears! Let’s make it a great one.

It takes more than great musicians to make a great orchestra. It takes a TEAM.

We kicked off our first day of school with the Marshmallow Challenge! Students worked in small groups to plan, communicate, problem-solve, adapt when things didn’t go quite as planned (and there was plenty of that!), and build the tallest structure they could with a handful of simple materials.

The towers were fun, but the real goal was much bigger.
An orchestra depends on the exact same skills: listening to one another, contributing ideas, trusting your teammates, adjusting when something isn’t working, and understanding that the success of the group depends on everyone doing their part.

We loved seeing students from across the Bridgeland Orchestra program laughing, collaborating, problem-solving, and getting to know one another as we began the 2026–2027 school year.

One challenge. One goal. One orchestra.

We’re excited about what this team is going to build together this year — and we’re just getting started.

WELCOME BACH PICNIC IS TODAY!

We’re so excited to kick off the 2026–2027 school year with one of our favorite Bridgeland Orchestra traditions!

Welcome Bach Picnic

TODAY — Saturday, August 15
5:30–8:00 PM
Oak Meadow Park

Students, come ready to eat, relax, and spend some time with your orchestra family outside of the rehearsal room!

Parents are absolutely welcome—and encouraged—to stay! This is a great chance to meet the orchestra directors, visit with other orchestra parents, meet members of the BOBA Board, ask questions, and find out how you can get involved with the program this year. Pull up a chair and hang out with us!

What to bring by grade level:
9th Grade: Salty snacks
10th Grade: Sweet treats
11th Grade: Sandwich supplies or plates
12th Grade: Fruits or vegetables

Please make sure all food is NUT-FREE. Students should also bring their own water.

Parents, please be especially mindful of traffic when dropping off and picking up students this evening. We want everyone arriving and leaving Oak Meadow Park safely.

We’ve had an incredible first three days of school, and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate than spending the evening together.

New families, please come introduce yourselves. Returning families, come reconnect. And if you’ve been wondering how you can be more involved with Bridgeland Orchestra this year, come talk to our BOBA Board members tonight!

BHS Orchestra Leadership Applications are now open for the 2026–2027 school year!

Have you talked with your student about becoming more involved in the orchestra program next year?

Our orchestra leadership team plays a huge role in supporting the success, culture, organization, and community of the Bridgeland Orchestra program throughout the year. Leadership opportunities include Vice President positions as well as officer committees/teams in:
🎻 Social
🎻 Logistics
🎻 Service
🎻 Librarian
🎻 Media

Incoming 9th graders are eligible to apply for officer committees as well!

Students selected for leadership roles will be expected to demonstrate initiative, reliability, professionalism, communication, and consistent follow-through throughout the school year.

Join the Bridgeland High School Orchestra for an evening of live music, great food, and student performances at BHS Commons on Friday, May 8!

🍽 Dinner catered by Andy’s Kitchen is included with admission:
Deconstructed lasagna, salad, bread, and drink
🎶 Act 1: 4:30–6:30 PM
🎶 Act 2: 6:45–9:00 PM

Come for one act or stay for both!
