Your sponge is sitting in a puddle of its own filth right now. I fixed that.

New on the site: round sponge holders, my own original design. Raised ridges keep the sponge up off the bottom so it can dry out, and a little channel leads to a drain hole. Set it on the edge of your sink with the hole over the basin, and the water goes back where it belongs.

They fit Scrub Daddy and Scrub Mommy sponges, they're dishwasher safe, and they come in six colors.

Desert sunset, but you can put coffee in it. 🌵

Plum sky, a fade of lilac and seafoam, one last rusty glow on the horizon, and the raw speckled clay underneath like sand that's still warm. This is one of my favorite glaze combos, and every kiln load makes it a little differently. The kiln always decides where the horizon goes. I just take the credit.

Meet Orton the Hog, guardian of the Keystone Pottery kiln. 🐷🔥

If you've never heard of a kiln god: potters have been putting little guardian figures on their kilns for centuries. The tradition goes way back (kiln deities were a big deal in Chinese ceramic history), and plenty of studio potters still keep a goofy little figure nearby to watch over the firing. Is it superstition? Absolutely. Does it work? Ask me after the next glaze load.

Orton is part of every firing. He's got pig ears, pig feet, and a mouth wide open for a reason: he eats my dead pyrometric cones, the little bendy sticks that tell me if a firing hit the right temperature.

His job is to sit on the kiln lid, supervise, and judge. If a firing goes wrong, it's his fault. That's what gods are for.

Every piece you take home has been through his watchful, screaming gaze.

There’s a pumpkin inside the dog treat jar. Will the pumpkin get stuck? Stay tuned to find out.

This is the bisque firing, so I still need to glaze and fire once more—but we’re getting there.
