Designed for intermediate and advanced acrylic painters, Acrylic Mentoring Studio with Susan Mencini offers space to work independently while deepening and expanding your artistic practice. Students build on already-established techniques using acrylic paint, mediums, and a variety of mixed media, all while enjoying a flexible, process-focused environment. Exploration of new concepts and materials is encouraged, with Susan providing thoughtful support, feedback, and guidance as needed. This studio is ideal for artists seeking both creative freedom and informed mentorship.

CVAC’s Floral & Landscape Exhibition is now open to the public, celebrating the beauty of nature through the eyes of our practicing artist community. From bold florals to sweeping landscapes and cityscapes, this juried exhibition features a stunning variety of artwork across mediums and styles.

As a visitor, you get to help decide the People’s Choice Award winner! Voting is free and open to all gallery guests, with the winner to be announced during our Artist Reception on Friday, July 10th.

FLORAL & LANDSCAPE EXHIBITION
The Cuyahoga Valley Art Center (CVAC) proudly presents the Floral & Landscape Exhibition, open from June 9 – July 23, 2026. This vibrant exhibition invites the public to enjoy a dynamic range of artistic interpretations—from lush florals to expansive cityscapes, tranquil seascapes, and soaring skylines—in both realistic and abstract styles. Featuring works in various mediums, this juried show showcases the creativity and vision of local and regional artists. A juror selected the featured works and chosen award recipients for First, Second, and Third Place, along with Honorable Mentions. Visitors can also participate in a People’s Choice selection process, with the winner to be celebrated during the Artist Reception. CVAC invites the community to come and experience the beauty and diversity of nature through the eyes of local artists during its Floral & Landscape Exhibition.

Join us as we celebrate the artists of the Floral & Landscape Exhibition at the Artist Reception on Friday, July 10th, from 5:30-7 pm. This free event invites patrons to enjoy an evening mingling with the featured artists, savoring refreshments and hors d’oeuvres, and the opportunity to purchase artwork. Come share in the excitement as we honor the award recipients, announce the People’s Choice winner, and showcase the creativity filling this vibrant exhibition.

Bites and Insights: Monday, June 29 from 6:30-8:30 PM

Bites and Insights is a quarterly event series designed exclusively for CVAC members. Held on Monday evenings from 6:30-8:30 pm, these critique nights offer a unique opportunity for practicing artists to receive valuable feedback, grow their skills, and network with fellow creatives in a supportive and enriching environment.

At each Bites and Insights event, participants are asked to register in advance to have one or two of their pieces critiqued by our Exhibitions Manager, Kit Palencar, along with a rotating guest artist. The goal of these sessions is to foster a learning community where artists can thrive, share their work, and gain new perspectives.

In addition to the critiques, the events are potluck-style, encouraging attendees to bring a dish or snack to share. CVAC will provide refreshments, ensuring that both your soul and your stomach are filled during these inspiring gatherings. Even if you’re not participating in the critique, we welcome you to attend and soak in the creative atmosphere. Registration is free and requested to help us manage attendance and maintain a comfortable capacity.

Calling All Artists! Join us in celebrating creativity and artistic expression by submitting your work to our upcoming 41st Annual Juried Exhibition. CALL TO ARTISTS:
Cuyahoga Valley Art Center (CVAC) invites local artists to participate in its 41st Annual Juried Exhibition, a celebration of creativity within our practicing artist community. CVAC is seeking submissions that demonstrate artistic excellence, originality, and technique across seven unique categories, as listed below. Artists are encouraged to bring their best pieces forward during the submission period:

FRIDAY, JULY 24, 2026, from 10-3 pm
SATURDAY, JULY 25, 2026, from 10-2 pm
*Please note, that an entry fee of $30 for CVAC Members and $35 for Non-Members applies, covering up to two entries.*

After submission, a juror will carefully review each piece and select the works that will be showcased within each category in the exhibition. This juror will also designate standout pieces in each category, awarding $100 Best of Category prizes along with honorable mentions to recognize exceptional artistry.

In addition to the juror’s selections, the community is invited to take part in the People’s Choice Awards. Visitors can cast their votes for their favorite pieces throughout the exhibit, lending a democratic voice to the selection process. Voting is free, and results will be announced during the Artists’ Reception, where all award winners will be celebrated.

The community is invited to join us for the Artists’ Reception on August 28, 2026, from 5:30–7 PM, where we’ll celebrate the featured artists and announce the People’s Choice winners. This festive event offers the chance to enjoy refreshments, mingle with fellow artists and patrons, and even add a piece to your collection. Admission is free, creating a warm, inclusive gathering for art enthusiasts of all backgrounds.

This exhibition showcases the remarkable skill, dedication, and creativity of our community, and CVAC eagerly awaits your submissions. For detailed entry guidelines, please refer to the prospectus. Early submissions are welcome; please coordinate such a drop-off with our front desk.

Art Explorations Summer Camp (Grades 2–5)

Young artists will discover a variety of art forms and techniques throughout the week, including watercolor painting, drawing, clay, printmaking, mixed media, and more. Each day features engaging projects that encourage creativity, experimentation, and confidence in the studio while allowing students to express their unique ideas.

Draw & Paint from Life Summer Camp (Middle & High School Students)

Designed for aspiring artists, this multi-media camp focuses on developing observational drawing and painting skills through work from real-life subjects. Students will strengthen their technical abilities, improve accuracy, and explore creative expression while building a strong artistic foundation.

Color and composition are more than visual elements—they are the language artists use to express meaning. Explore this powerful language in the Color & Composition Workshop, August 22–23, 2026, from 9:00–4:00 PM at the Cuyahoga Valley Art Center. Open to beginner through advanced artists, this two-day workshop focuses on using color and compositional choices with intention and clarity.
Artists will learn how to create visual harmony, dynamic movement, and strong focal points through thoughtful design. By gaining a deeper understanding of how color and composition shape perception, participants will strengthen their ability to communicate ideas across any medium.
