Richard Sr, a retired architect, and Richard Jr, a carpenter, create their artwork with their love for wood and old salvaged items. Their focus is to allow the woods to be re-appreciated through a "rebirth". The first of the wood was as a majestic tree created by God, the second life was as a useful object built by man and the “Third Life “ as a unique piece of art . The Third Life team has since
expanded to include Barbara and Amy to become a true family affair(along with four shop dogs: Frankie,CoZmo, Abi and Georgia. Hardwoods, softwoods, recycled woods, old furniture parts, wine crates Old Florida Fencewood and more (too numerous to name) are utilized as materials, which are hauled, cleaned, planed, cut, hand-sanded (a LOT of sanding) and oiled or painted to become elements in the artworkk. We use watercolor, flat and glossy latex , oil paints and stains to beautify and enhance our designs. We juxtapose all of these various items with textures, shapes and sizes to create exciting artwork. Being Floridians who enjoy the sun, sand and sea, the team specializes in artwork of sealife including fish, seahorses, turtles... and mermaids (yes, they do exist!). In early 2017, the 4 of us decided to open a second line, A Third Life Design to showcase many of our larger pieces such as refurbished tables, mirrors surrounded by glorious array of woods, large towel racks, and wall hangings featuring painted and natural woods, winecrates and other recycled items. Both “lines” are featured on Etsy ([email protected] and [email protected]) as well as in the “Upscale Furniture Consignment Gallery” located at 8845 SW 132nd Street , Miami Florida
