Our Story
In 2001, my husband (Dennis Dahle) and I started an on-site rodeo photo business. We traveled all over the United States and Canada going to the largest Indian celebrations and rodeos. Indian Rodeos was our main focus since we both participated and belonged to those rodeo associations since the early 1970’s. We also were the official rodeo photographers for the Montana State High School Rodeo for 5 years, the Indian National Finals Rodeo for 4 years, and the Wrangler Team Roping National Championships for 5 years. We met many people who became like family in those years. The last few years we cut back on our travel and stayed closer to our family ranches on our reservations..the Blackfeet and Northern Cheyenne. We always talked about creating art with some of our photos that stood out, so we renamed our business from T Slash D Rodeo Photos into Cowboy Real Art. We want people to put art on their living room walls that means something special to them. I create composites and collages with my images. I also get creative with just a regular photo and make it unique. In 2017 we expanded our business into another avenue called Buffalo Horse Enterprises. I not only promoted my own art but also the art of other artists on the Blackfeet Nation. I was selected to represent the Blackfeet Nation at the Calgary Stampede Western Art Showcase during the 10 day show at the famous Calgary Stampede. I also created other opportunities for Indigenous artists throughout North America including an art show at the Indian National Finals Rodeo. I currently work for the Blackfeet Nation as the Iinnii Initiative Coordinator promoting the Blackfeet Buffalo program in culture, education, tourism and economic development.
