We couldn’t be more excited for the incredible group of young musicians who will take part in this year’s Kids Rock Custer program! Open to students who have just completed grades 4 through 7, this weeklong experience gives participants the chance to learn an instrument—bass, guitar, keyboards, or percussion—form a band, collaborate with peers, and even write an original song.

Participants will perform LIVE at The Custer Beacon on Saturday, June 20th - 4:30pm. We invite the entire community to come out, cheer on these talented kids, and celebrate what they’ve accomplished—it’s always an inspiring and unforgettable performance.

Looking for a relaxing summer afternoon filled with music, friends, and community? Join us on the lawn at the 1881 Courthouse Museum for an afternoon of live music featuring Black Asters, taking the stage at 3:00 p.m. Bring a lawn chair or blanket, settle in under the Black Hills sky, and enjoy great tunes in a beautiful historic setting.
CD's Wings Food Truck will be on site serving up delicious food, and beer and wine will be available for purchase.

This family-friendly event is free and open to the public, and well-behaved pets on leashes are welcome, too. Bring a friend, bring the family, and come enjoy a wonderful afternoon in downtown Custer, SD!

Recent research suggests that spending time with art in museums and galleries can have a positive impact on mental health and may even support physical health. Art has a way of helping us slow down, reflect, connect, and see the world through a different lens.

How fortunate we are to live in a community that embraces creativity. From local galleries and talented artists to live music, theater, cultural events, and the wonderful programs hosted by our library, schools, and community venues, opportunities to experience the arts are all around us.

Spend an evening with one of the West's most celebrated singer-songwriters.

Doug Figgs brings authentic Western storytelling to the stage, drawing inspiration from the cowboy life he lives every day as a farrier, horseman, and award-winning musician from New Mexico. His music ranges from hard-driving Western tunes with a touch of southern rock to heartfelt ballads inspired by the history, landscapes, and people of the American West.

Doug is the recipient of numerous honors, including International Western Music Association's 2023 Entertainer of the Year and two prestigious Wrangler Awards from the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum.
