🎼August slipped away into a moment of time.... How is it already September? You'll still find me here, sharing lots of OBX summer moments...
I know I say this a bunch, BUT those shots "between the shots" are always my absolute favorite!!
For us, family shoots mean talking about lots of silly things and playing some games so it doesn't feel like work or "portrait torture"😅 for the kiddos!
The best part, you can totally hear those belly laughs through these images, years after these moments have passed 😍

Back to school 2026 🥹📚✏️
I swear I blinked, and these two got SO tall, just in the last 12 months. Aubrey is officially looking way too grown (and officially 3 inches taller than me -- at 12 years old), and Emily is still keeping us all laughing and on our toes. 😂❤️
Of course, this photographer mama had to sneak in a few back-to-school pictures before sending them off. 📸
Here’s to a great school year for all our local schools ❤️

🌊 OBX weather (and especially the wind 😂) can have a mind of its own. Even on a beautiful, calm evening, there’s almost always a breeze once you cross those dunes.
One of my favorite little professional tricks on windier days? We’ll spend the first 10 minutes photographing on the sandy, greenery-lined walkways before heading onto the beach. You get a few photos without the wind-blown hair, AND it adds another beautiful scene to your gallery. 🙌🏼
I absolutely LOVE galleries with a little variety — and those soft greens + sandy paths always make for such pretty images before we hit the ocean side. 🌿🌊

Getting to photograph Rachel with her three sweet boys while her husband Andrew is deployed was such a privilege. She is an incredible mom, a fighter, a survivor, an advocate, and truly a force of nature. I look up to this lady more than she knows. ❤️
Some people come into your life in the most unexpected ways… and I’m so thankful Rachel is one of those people.❤️
A little backstory: Rachel and I actually met because Facebook suggested we become friends after realizing we were both in a nationwide BRCA+ group AND somehow lived in the same town. 😂 We met for coffee, connected over all things BRCA and cancer, and she has truly helped me more than she probably realizes. Rachel is a triple-negative breast cancer survivor diagnosed in 2022 at only 30 years old with two little boys. Rachel has been through biopsies, surgeries, a double mastectomy, chemo, radiation, reconstruction, and SO much more. Watching her story and talking with someone who had actually lived through some of the decisions I have been facing helped give me the courage to keep pushing, asking questions, and advocating for myself. She has been through so much more than I have been, and she is truly my hero.
And through ALL of that, she’s also an incredible military wife and mama, holding down the fort with her boys while her husband Andrew is deployed overseas for months at a time. In November 2025, their story got the sweetest new chapter when they welcomed baby boy #3. 🥹💙 It has been amazing to watch God truly working in Rachel's life.

🎗️✨ Sneak Peek | The Null Family ✨🎗️

Some sessions stay with you long after you pack up your camera... this was one of them. 🤍

This is beautiful Madi. She was diagnosed with Stage 3C ovarian cancer in 2024 at just 16 years old. She's now bravely facing a recurrence, and if you spend even five minutes with her, you'll see exactly what strength looks like. She has the biggest heart, the sweetest smile, and a family that fights right beside her every single day. 💛🎗️

This session was an incredible gift from their sweet friend, Tiffany. What a beautiful way to love on a family. Thank you for trusting me with these memories. 🤍

The best part? For this little bit of time, there was no talking about treatments, appointments, or cancer. We laughed. She twirled. We joked. They just enjoyed being together as a family. And that's exactly what I wanted for them. 🥹✨

I'll be honest... I had tears the whole drive home. Cancer has been a big part of my family's story as well, and it's awful what Madi and her family have had to walk through. But if there's one thing I know, it's that this family is full of faith, love, and the kind of strength that leaves you in awe.

Cancer sucks.

But love? Love shows up. Love fights. And this family is surrounded by so much of it. ❤️

Friends, PLEASE help me keep Madi and her family in your prayers as they continue this fight. 💛🙏

"I'm not sure she's going to cooperate..." 🤍
"My littlest hates having his picture taken..."
I hear these comments before sessions ALL the time.😊 And honestly? That's okay.
I'd much rather photograph a kiddo with a big personality than one who sits perfectly still. ❤️
I can't promise your little one will smile at the camera for every photo. (Let's be real... most toddlers have much bigger plans. 😂)
What I *can* promise is that I'll meet them where they are. We'll get the family portraits, but then we'll let them run, explore, make silly faces, play in the sand, and just be little. And I will always grab those sassy faces too!
These are usually the photos that end up meaning the most.
Sweet Zoey is the perfect example. Her images in her family's gallery are full of personality, and I wouldn't change a thing. 🤍
The goal has never been perfect... it's capturing your little human exactly as they are in this season of life.
And trust me... years from now, you'll be so glad you remembered the pouty faces, the sandy little hands, the serious looks, and the carefree runs down the beach just as much as the smiles. ✨

One of my favorite parts of every Outer Banks beach session? Watching the sky completely transform from start to finish. 🌊💙(Click all the way through to see the progression)
Every evening is different. Some nights we get soft golden light, other nights the sky surprises us with the dreamiest shades of white to blush, lavender, peach, and blue. You truly never know what Mother Nature has planned... and that's part of the magic. ✨
One thing you'll never see in my galleries? Added sky overlays or fake sunsets. These colors are 100% real. I simply slightly enhance the beautiful light\contrast that was already there so your images stay true to the moment we shared.
Not every session ends with a sky quite like this—and honestly, that's what makes each one so special. Every beach evening has its own kind of beauty. 🤍
I absolutely loved spending the evening with the wonderful Schnieber family visiting the Outer Banks from Ohio. Thank you for trusting me to capture these memories together! 🥹

I had the BEST time with the Cochran-Neff crew!

For their shoot we wrapped up the evening in the most memorable way...playing in their new backyard pool 💦 --- That was after we captured some beautiful family portraits in front of their gorgeous new home, walking in their neighborhood and some beautiful shots down a pretty wooded path. (Just wait until you see those!)

One of my favorite things to tell families is to end your summer session with something that's uniquely you. Whether it's jumping in the pool, having a water balloon fight, breaking out the water guns, sharing popsicles, or another favorite summer tradition, those candid moments often become the memories you'll treasure most.
