Sawnee School of the Arts Sawnee School of the Arts, located in Cumming, GA, is celebrating 36 years of dance education.

Established as Sawnee School of Ballet in 1990 under the direction of Joan Kall Stewart, Sawnee School of the Arts is recognized in the Forsyth County community for its standard of excellence. SSA, now under the ownership of Courtney Bromwich, is dedicated to providing the highest quality training in a positive, encouraging, and safe environment. Our curriculum includes classes for students, pre-s

chool through adult, in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, modern, musical theatre, stretch/flexibility & leaps/turns, and acro/tumbling. Classes are taught by an outstanding faculty of experienced professional instructors and create well-rounded individuals with poise, confidence, discipline, and of course physical strength and endurance. We provide the education and skills needed to create a firm foundation for a performing arts career. Our dancers are recruited by the top colleges, dance companies and institutions. We are serious about dance, but we also know how to have fun as we instill skill and talent. SSA is home to the recreational performing group Sapphires & the non-profit Sawnee Ballet Theatre known for their annual Nutcracker and Spring Concerts. Whether your child is studying strictly for pleasure, or as a serious student with aspirations of becoming a professional dancer, Sawnee School of the Arts offers classes that suit the interests of all dancers.

We’re excited to officially welcome Miss Susan to the SSA faculty!

Miss Susan is no stranger to SSA and SBT. She has taught ballet and modern with us in the past, including at our summer intensives, and choreographed Beauty and the Beast for SBT’s 2019 Spring Concert.

Now she’s back and joining us on Monday evenings to teach Pre-Pointe for Teens! We’re so excited for our dancers to have her experience and energy back in the studio.

Every dancer starts somewhere! At SSA, our youngest dancers can begin at age 2 with creative movement and early ballet foundations, then grow through our graded ballet syllabus as their technique, confidence, and love of dance develop.

This video takes you from our 2–3 Year Old Ballet dancers all the way through Secondary 2 Ballet at recital. Come grow with us!

We’re excited to officially welcome Miss McKaylah to the SSA family!

We first met her at the KSU Dance Festival, where her energy and presence leading the morning icebreaker immediately caught our attention. After having her join us as a guest teacher for our Summer Intensive the past two years, we knew we wanted more of that energy at SSA!

This season, you’ll find Miss McKaylah in the studio on Wednesdays teaching Stretch/Flex & Leaps/Turns, Intermediate Jazz, Advanced Lyrical, and Advanced Intermediate Jazz.

We can’t wait for our dancers to train with her all season long!

Whether you want to get moving, try something new, or get back to something you’ve always loved, we’ve got a class for you from 7:30–8:30 p.m. Recital optional

Monday: Musical Theatre
Tuesday: Pilates Mat & Stretch
Wednesday: Tap
Thursday: Ballet

Classes start this coming Monday, August 24. Come dance with us!
