Candice Myataza (b. 1997, Cape Town, South Africa) is a visual artist whose work explores storytelling, spirituality, identity, and belonging. A graduate of the University of Cape Town with a Bachelor of Arts in Film, Anthropology, and Sociology, her practice is deeply shaped by themes of self-awareness and human connection.
Beginning her visual art journey in 2019, Candice uses acrylic, oil, and mixed media on canvas to reflect on her experience growing up mixed-race in South Africa and the complexities of navigating cultural identity. Her work has since evolved into a broader exploration of the shared human experiences that connect people beyond race and social boundaries.
Her earthy-toned figures, symbolic motifs, and delicate line work invite reflection on identity, spirituality, and community. Candice has exhibited across several Cape Town galleries, including Mullers Gallery, 6 Spin Street Gallery, 91 Loop, Red Gallery, and YoungBlood, and has sold over 20 paintings.
