Saturday May 9th we are proud to present the Ontologics!

ONTOLOGICS is an experimental, multi-instrumentalist duo that has been recognized for fusing genres like progressive rock, hip-hop, electronica, and jazz with sharp lyricism and an explosive live presence. Their lyrical depth and highly structured nature of their genre bending has been compared to the meticulous arrangement of the jazz-inflected work of Frank Zappa. Originally based in Providence, RI, the duo features singer/songwriter, Ian Campopiano and now drummer Andrew Morris of Indiana (Berklee Alum) who joined in 2021, previously Matthew Walshe (‘09-’20).

Big weekend at the Loft!

Friday night Stand-up comedy returns to the Loft! Our regular running series presented by Float Loaf Comedy is in for another installment with another great line-up of the East Coast’s best comics! This show features 5 fantastic comedians including the headliner Tracie Jayne and feature comedians Daniel Desmond and nick Tide. The Show is hosted by local favorites Tate Griffen and Corey Bush.

Saturday Night The jazz/funk/R&B ensemble ToMaJiTo returns to Loft129 for a special performance featuring vocalist Mikayla Dodge and saxophonist Rich Norwood. Join us for an evening of great music from artists such as The Yellow Jackets, Stevie Wonder, Jeff Lorber Fusion, Chuck Mangione, Areitha Franklin, Weather Report, Alicia Keys, and more.

Both shows start at 8 pm and tickets are $15.

The Cumberland Jazz Society Big Band is back with the Crosswinds Big Band, led by Dale Rodevick. Come hang out and hear the cats read through the best in modern big band charts from the libraries of Thad Jones-Mel Lewis, Count Basie, Les Hooper, Gordon Goodwin, Maynard Ferguson, Hank Levy and more. The sessions are free to the public. The band meets every first Wednesday of the month. No admission charge!

Some of the most memorable choral compositions arise from the operatic stage. Who could forget Bernstein’s “Make our Garden Grow” from Candide. Who wouldn’t appreciate the beauty and grandeur of the easter hymn, “Regina Coeli,” from Mascagni’s gem, Cavalleria Rusticana. The Frostburg State University Chamber Singers, under the direction of Dr. Scott Rieker, alongside voice students of Dr. Chun-Ting Chao and Michael Welch, and collaborative pianist, Dr. Joseph Yungen, present an evening of music and drama guaranteed to set your toe tapping.
