The next MidDAY At Grace FREE concert at NOON is Friday, March 6 and features pianist David Mann.

At the dawn of the 20th century, an extraordinary tradition vanished — the art of classical improvisation, once mastered by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Liszt.

With help from the audience, pianist David Mann will bring this lost art to Grace Church.

Join David as he creates original piano compositions performed in real time, shaped by ideas from the audience. David will ask for the audience to 'call out' musical letter names upon which he will improvise a marvelous creation on the spot!

The concert is FREE with Donations designated for the Grace Diner.

Please join us on Friday for what will surely be a fascinating program.

This community music series is presented by the Grace Performing Arts Ministry and has featured professional artists of all genres since late 2018 raising thousands of dollars for a wide range of Non Profit organizations, initially for charities chosen by the artists.

Since the COVID shutdown the donations have benefited Grace Diner, the largest food sharing program on the West side, distributing 3000 pounds of fresh produce and baked and dairy goods to the local unhoused neighbors and families. The program is also supported by local donors and managed by a volunteer team of church and community members.

The MidDAY At Grace concerts resume on Friday, November 21 at Noon at Grace Church, 4427 Overland Ave with the Culver City Flute Choir Ensemble. Join us to hear gorgeous flute music by Haydn, Dvorak, Saint Saens and, adding piano accompaniment in multi movement works by American composers Catherine McMichael and Gary Shocker.

These Free community outreach programs have been presented by the Performing Arts Ministry for eight years featuring musicians and vocalists of all genres.

Donations received benefit Grace Diner, the largest food sharing program on the West side. A team of dedicated volunteers distribute approximately nine hundred hot meals and three thousand pounds of fresh produce, dairy and baked goods from local commercial grocers each week.

The Performing Arts Ministry at Grace Church presents the next in the MidDAY At Grace community concert series on Friday, February 28 at NOON featuring concert pianist, Sammy Maddox playing beautiful classical selections by Lizst and Beethoven and the first movement of the iconic Grieg Piano Concerto in A Minor.

He is also an accomplished organist and will perform selections by the Lutheran composer JS Bach on the wonderful Grace Church pipe organ.

The young pianist joins the roster of the MidDAY Artists as a recent Finalist in the Culver City Symphony Parness Concerto Competition.

The concert is Free and Donations received will benefit the Grace Diner which, since the January fires has expanded distribution of fresh produce and dairy and baked goods and sharing of eight to nine hundred hot meals each week to the local unhoused and needy. People are coming from as far as the Palisades and Altadena to receive sustenance, information about local services and a kind smile from a wonderful team of community volunteers.

The next MidDAY at Grace concert is on Friday, May 31 at NOON featuring the brilliant stylings of the Satin Brass Quartet. The concert is Free and Donations benefit the Grace Diner, the premier food sharing program on the West Side.

The Satin Brass Quartet has delighted audiences as a dynamic, charismatic team for nearly twenty years. Based in Southern California their musical careers include orchestral contracts, television, recording sessions, teaching, conducting and touring overseas.Each member of the group is an accomplished professional musician with Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Performance from noted Universities around the country. Their alma maters include the renowned University of Southern California, University of California Los Angeles and University of Texas (Austin) and Eastman School of Music.

Over the years, the versatile and eclectic style of the group has allowed them to perform in a wide variety of venues as guest artists for weddings, receptions, children's programs, weddings and concert series. Their repertoire covers all periods of music from Renaissance to Contemporary, Vivaldi to Gershwin and Sousa to Williams. Marches, fanfares, dance music all sound that much more thrilling played by brass instruments which are the full, broad core of an orchestra.

The Satin Brass features two trumpets, trombone and bass trombone. If you are unfamiliar with this instrumentation, you will be thrilled to hear them in the gorgeous acoustics of the recital sized Sanctuary at Grace Church. Join in after the concert for an upfront and close look at the instruments and to visit with the musicians.

The next MidDAY At Grace FREE concert at NOON on Friday, April 19 and features the Culver City Flute Choir recently seen as the Culver City Symphony Prelude program at the Frost Auditorium.

The Choir started nearly forty years ago with five dedicated amateur flutists, led by Culver City based professional flutist/teacher, Patty Sikorski.

The ensemble has expanded tremendously presenting beautiful annual concerts at Grace Church. This is their first appearance in the acclaimed MidDAY At Grace series, now in it's sixth season!

And, on Sunday evening, April 21 the Culver City Symphony presents a beautiful program celebrating Spring and Earth Day at the Frost Auditorium in a FREE concert of Strauss, Copland and Beethoven.

Grace Church Performing Arts Ministry will present a community SingAlong event on Sunday, December 17 at 7:00pm.

Beautiful vocal soloists will lead popular Holiday songs accompanied by flute, guitar, cello, and percussion with Music Director, Mary Lou Basaraba at the piano.

Co Host, Culver City Symphony Orchestra Music Director, Clyde Mitchell has been growing his beard for the occasion!

Join us for this Annual event featuring music of the season and a special appearance by The Man himself!

This event celebrates the FIFTH Anniversary of the series that was launched in December, 2018. We have presented over 50 beautiful concerts featuring a wide variety of Artists and musical genres.

Many of you have been part of this wonderful community outreach and, together, we have raised almost $20,000 for all sorts of 501-c3 Non Profit organizations and since the Pandemic your Donations have supported the Grace Diner, Bravi Tutti!

Gifted Young Musicians to Perform at MidDay at Grace this Friday, June 23, 12 noon.

The final MidDAY at Grace Concert this spring will be at noon on Friday, June 23 with resident classical guitarist, Alex Park (on the right) and soprano, Maegan McConnell (on the left), accompanied by pianist Mary Lou Basaraba. They will present a program of a wide range of musical genres and periods for solo, duo and trio ensembles from Bach to Gershwin.

Park and McConnell will also be the featured soloists in the final concert of the Culver City Symphony Orchestra season the next evening, June 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the Robert Frost Auditorium. The MidDAY concert will be a preview of their Symphony appearance.

MidDAY At Grace is a live music concert series presented monthly featuring a wide variety of musical artists of all genres, created and produced by Mary Lou Basaraba, Director of Music Ministries at Grace Lutheran Church in Culver City, CA.

MidDAY At Grace returns on Friday, May 12 at NOON at Grace Church, 4427 Overland Ave, Culver City with musicians, husband and wife team, Michael and Jahna Perricone. They will share their inspiring and meditational program featuring guitar and song along with ancient Tibetan singing bowls, bells and huge gongs..

Jahna is an award winning vocalist and UCLA Mindfulness Coach and Michael an innovative musician, composer and
acclaimed sound engineer and designer and together they will transform the church sanctuary into a meditative, calming
sound environment. This will be a truly unexpected and transformative experience!

The concert is FREE and Donations will benefit the Grace Diner which, as the primary community outreach food distribution program in Culver City, has provided over 160,000 meals and continues to share up to 800 nutritious prepared meals and hundreds of pounds of fresh produce and baked and dairy goods each week to our Unhoused and Needy neighbours.
