At the end of last year 2022 we have taught 41 students proper foundation of personal protection, shooting, and concealed carry. That's NOT including victims of domestic violence that took the course for a very low price OR for completely free because they were cut off of funds. (It is actually more common than you may think.)

Although this number taught is lower than originally projected we will never turn our backs on the abused and always work with victims of domestic violence that want to take moderate steps in their personal protection.

We hope 2023 is a bigger and better year for clients that want their conceal carry and we hope domestic violence magically disappears overnight. But if it does not.....WE will be here for you.

Don't be concerned with the loudest person in the room, they are often all fluff. It is the quiet, brooding, piercing ones that require attention. Comfortable with their ability to cause destruction, in split seconds.

Personal protection snippet holiday edition: If you are deep frying a turkey this year, or know someone who is....tell them to make sure the turkey is thawed or else it will result in needing a new place to live. 😆 Happy Thanksgiving all.

Remember the men and women, service animals, contractors, allies and assets who have either gave the ultimate sacrifice or in harms way this Turkey day.

"Joe, can I use deadly force if someone comes in my house?!"

I get this question a lot! Here's what I say to them...."you need to create pieces of a puzzle to create the whole picture, is it an odd time like 3am? Are they hammering your door down violently? Are they verbally threatening or harassing you? Do they sound like there are multiple people? ....there is no cookie cutter answer and every situation is different BUT the closest I can provide is this:

If they have the ABILITY (in drastically short amount of time) to hurt you or a loved one.

If they have the OPPORTUNITY to hurt you or a loved one. (Ex closing distance with a knife, firearm pointed)

And if they have INTENT to hurt you (pre meditated ex: rope, duct tape etc, saying they are going to do X, Y,Z etc.

You need all 3 of these! Not just 1 or 2! If you can articulate these 3 factors to police you are safe to protect yourself and loved ones.

FOLLOW ALL STATE LAWS ON SELF PROTECTION/DEFENSE.

Yesterday was the United States Marine Corps. Birthday! Today is Veterans Day! Happy Birthday Marines. Take some time to appreciate Veterans today! I will be ramping up posts with snippets of personal protection, something most people put on the back burner. My goal is to make you and your loved ones a harder target by doing small reasonable steps. Join me in my mission, PLEASE!

Did you know? Home invasions are statistically proven to happen DURING THE DAY. First thing you should do immediately upon returning home is lock your doors...sounds like common sense...AND IT IS! Having a dog, camera system, and a physical block on a door are great options to strengthen physical security. Remember, criminals are lazy and WILL take the path of least resistance to aid them in a quick home invasion. Be safe out there.
