Finally got the “RIO” seat finished. Used the MCC seats.

I’ve had a few guys ask what colors i used to paint the GRU-7A “Late” seat, it’s kinda hard to explain but I used AK 3rd Gen colors on a wet pallet, each color or mixed color gets a dab of AK 3rd Gen “Ultra Matt” and AK 3rd Gen Thinner to give a “glaze” which it allows me to build it up.

Now the seat was primed using Mr Color Mahogany Mr Surfacer to help with seat definition for the brush painting.

Of course the projected B’s I want to complete with this kit, from current decals I’ve got in the stash.

Gunfighter Models, Peter and I have been texting back and forth on which ones in decals we have we want to build.

I know a couple decal company dudes any chance we can/could see some “Low Viz” VF-101 B’s.

Still have a fair amount of fiddle bits to finish.

And for my next magic trick a kit I’ve built in the past was the Revell EA-6A “Electronic Intruder”.
Going for a majority out of a box built minus a few items to spruce it up plus will be using Fightertown Decals “Combined Test Squadron” of the VAQ-33 “Fire Birds” out of NAS Chambers Field or Naval Station Norfolk.

Going to be using the “US NAVY SQUADRON HISTORIES” series for references for interesting loadouts on this build.

Fuel tanks have been weathered. Did a little streaking in the back side of the tunnel, then I added the walkways using Tamiya Orange cap putty and Mr Color thinner to make the texture feel and look.

The dreadful red has been laid down inside the slate wells….i was dreading this since my du***ss added these parts during assembly but my homie Brian over at Gunfighter Models said nah dawg all you need to do is tape the hell out of it and sling the red. Well here you go 🤷🏼‍♂️.

Then I masked off the GE shrouds for a nice coat of MRP Jet Exhaust. I learned this trick from modeler up in Pennsylvania, he used it on his 1/18th builds he did a few years back.

Let these set before a little sepia on them, then apply a few decals on it which then I can slap a coat of VMS Satin which at that time I can do more OPR on the underside and detail painting.

I think I’m happy with the weathering….now on too adding walkways, red in the slats, and some black around GE Shrouds.

Talk about 50 Shades of Gray 😂😂….pulled out some Mr Color, SMS, AK Interactive and MRP to start a little corrosion control on old Vandy 241.

I’m going to let set up over night, then tomorrow morning I’m going to go back in and clean some areas up with either Mr Color 36237 or SMS 36237.

Once that’s done tomorrow morning I’ll slap a very thin pin wash of Sepia on the main portion of the model. I need to mask off the slat area for some red paint that needs to be slung in that area.

The tails I painted them in Tamiya LP Flat Black which I took MRP 36081 and used it as a filter simulate faded black look. Might go back and tighten it up with maybe some Neutral Gray also.

Basically in a nut shell is what I did. I truly don’t have a true way I do this, I just wing it….i know guys have a system to do things….me I just grab paint, mix and sling it.
