As part of our two days of racing this weekend for Labor Day, here are the details for THE WOLVERINE CHALLENGE that will be part of our full show on Sunday, September 6th, that will also include the Great Lakes Super Sprints.
A FIRST-OF-ITS-KIND EVENT IN MICHIGAN
For the first time at Crystal Motor Speedway, seven different divisions will compete on the track at the same time, racing through traffic against completely different types of race cars.
Each division will be represented by two drivers.
Because the divisions have different speeds, each class has been assigned a different number of laps to complete. That gives every division a chance to race for the overall victory.
THE GOAL IS SIMPLE:
Be the first driver to complete the required number of laps for your division, and you become the first-ever WOLVERINE CHALLENGE CHAMPION!
At the same time, there's another battle going on. The two representatives from each division will be racing head-to-head against each other for their class victory.

📋 HOW THE WOLVERINE CHALLENGE WORKS
1. TWO CARS FROM EACH DIVISION
Seven divisions will each be represented by two cars, creating a maximum 14-car starting field.
2. EVERYONE RACES TOGETHER
All divisions take the green flag together and compete on the same racetrack at the same time.
3. DIFFERENT DIVISIONS — DIFFERENT LAP COUNTS
Each division has a predetermined number of laps it must complete. The lap totals are designed to compensate for the performance differences between divisions.
4. OVERALL WOLVERINE CHAMPION
The first driver to complete the required number of laps for their division wins the overall race and becomes the Wolverine Challenge Champion.
5. CLASS BATTLE
The two representatives from each division are also competing against one another. The first of the two to complete their division's required laps is the winner of that division's head-to-head challenge.
6. TRAFFIC IS PART OF THE CHALLENGE
There is no separate track for the faster or slower divisions. Drivers will have to work through traffic, choose their lines and deal with cars of dramatically different speeds.
7. NORMAL RACING & SAFETY RULES APPLY
Drivers are expected to race with respect and recognize the significant speed differences between divisions. Rough driving, intentional contact or unsafe driving may result in penalties or disqualification at the discretion of Crystal Motor Speedway officials.
8. CAUTIONS
Caution laps will not count toward a driver's required lap total. Racing resumes from the scored running order.
9. THE FINISH
Once the first driver reaches their division's required lap total, the overall Wolverine Challenge is complete and that driver is declared the champion.
