After my daughter originally brought up the idea of a local aquarium, I got to thinking, what if there was a space where volunteers could help build fantastic aquariums that they never could afford to build at home... It would be a super fun weekend activity for families. Local schools could take field trips there to learn hands-on marine/freshwater biology. Maybe it'd even grow organically into something larger over time? Who knows? It's just at the "idea phase" right now, but it's completely doable with enough community support.
