Attended the Dune Birds in Art Artist’s Reception in Chesterton last night. My acrylic painting “Duneland Snowy” will be on display through June 6th at Ancillaerie, 109 S Calumet Rd.

My latest piece of artwork is a 12” x 24” acrylic painting called “Duneland Snowy,” a rendering of the Snowy Owl that frequented Chesterton this past March and April, and is an interpretation from my own photography. It is framed to a size of 16 11/16” x 28 11/16.”

I am grateful and proud that It has been selected to be a part of the Indiana Audubon’s Dune Birds in Art: 2026 Exhibition from May 8th to June 5th in conjunction with the Indiana Dunes Birding Festival in May at:

Sadly, two days after being notified of the selection of this painting, the Snowy Owl was found deceased due to a power line electrocution. I hope this interpretation brings a smile to those who saw this unusual Duneland visitor these past two months.

I’ve long wanted to produce art from my own photography, and have decided to make this a more significant aspect of my life. This is my latest work that I call “The Sunflower Harvest.” It depicts a Red-breasted Nuthatch feeding from a dying sunflower. Three of these birds wintered in my backyard this past season which was somewhat unusual. It’s a 12 x 12 Acrylic Painting, framed to approximately 14 3/8 x 14 3/8.
