My name is Tori. I am a mom to a sweet little boy named Charlie. We recently uprooted our lives in Connecticut and moved to Tennessee, all while our little boy battles his first year of leukemia treatments.
When Charlie was an infant, we bought our first home, unknowingly with damages within. Mold and water damages left us with a lemon of a home. I worked hard to make lemonade from it and put trust that insurance claims, contractors, and prayers that our home for Charlie would be fixed. When the diagnosis came last August, so did the loss of his father's job during the beginning of treatment. This left us struggling to pay for bills while we invested our time in loving our boy. The loss of our hope for this home we desperately wanted to create for our son came when the insurance claims were denied and the dangers that hid behind the walls that could put our baby at risk.
The start of Charlie's treatments, we had lived with my in-laws. Unfortunately, Charlie's grandmother is battling her own wars with cancer. Staying in a home overcrowded with two cancer patients wasn’t ideal and left us making a hard choice of leaving to live with my parents.
Here I stand and ask to open your heart to helping us create a home here in Tennessee for Charlie, for us as his parents, for my parents. Cancer has plagued our home. Please help us create a new home to give us the fresh start we need as a family.
If I can have one wish:
I wish for a home for my son to thrive in
