This page serves to show pictures of the available space, plus information about the studio's equipment and capabilities, and links to audio samples. My name is Scottish McMillan, and after about 25 years as a singing, songwriting guitar slinger, most recently as the founder of the Chicago-area rock duo Right Rongly,
and almost a decade as a live-event audio engineer, I now focus largely on being a recording studio audio engineer. Singlewide Studio is located in Crossville, Tennessee, in an unincorporated area a few miles north of Crossville city limits. And yes, it IS a single-wide manufactured home, about 2/3 of which is a recording studio. The studio’s cozy feel allows players to relax and create comfortably in a "living-room" type environment, while attaining superb audio production quality, and quite affordably. Overnight stays can be accommodated with enough warning, but random overnighters can occasionally be accommodated. Unlike the super-polished coldness of so many "downtown" studios, this place feels like home, because it IS home -- MY home -- and I'm happy to be able to help other artists have fun making recordings they can be proud of! While players are welcome to bring whatever instruments or other equipment they please, Singlewide Studio’s greatest strength is its “plug and play” jam/recording setup. The “Living Room” includes a full drum kit, two different modeling guitar amps, and a bass combo amp, as well as a few decent electric and acoustic guitars and basses. ALL aforementioned amplifiers can be played “direct” and silently, allowing “live” jams to be recorded without ANY amps bleeding into the drum mics. If you prefer your own amp, it may still be possible to "go direct" using certain equipment. This gear is typically all set up and “ready-to-go”, so unless you need to switch something out or add something, you can just bring your drumsticks, guitars, basses and foot pedals, and get right into it!

THE ROOMS:
“LIVING ROOM” (15’ X 16’) Record/Playback Room - most bands can fit all at once, including drums
“ISOLATION ROOM” (8’ x 10’) - For isolating amps or singers when necessary
“CONTROL ROOM” (9’ x 15’) – This is where the PC and my control equipment lives, but there’s plenty of room for tracking vocals, instrument solos, etc., as well as listening back on the Control Room couch, when convenient.

1984 Cremer Custom Guitars “Fender Precision” style bass guitar, with Bartolini “P-bass” style pickups. Classic tone.
1981 KRAMER XKE 4-string - short-height frets, fretless above 11th fret, bolt-on aluminum "V-top" neck, (1) P-Bass-style P/U, tone & volume knobs. Classic tone with more sustain than most basses of its age. MONTANA (Kaman-made, in Korea) Acoustic bass guitar, jumbo body, passive piezo pickup
GUITARS (all great-playing axes - no junk):
FENDER COPY Strat-style guitar, (3) single coil pickups, 5-pos. P/U switch, "Gilmour" option switch (turns neck pickup on/off, regardless of P/U switch position)

1981 HOHNER 6-string acoustic guitar (great player - solid midrange - great for adding to a full band)
RAINSONG 100% carbon-fiber acoustic guitar, strung for baritone, but could switch to standard tuning, if needed. (Big sound, good for solo acoustic players)

(1) Black Lion Audio B173, solid state (clone of the classic Neve 1073) - this can replace (1) of the X32’s internal mic preamps, if desired.
