Playing around with tiles. I got lucky while I was sleeping after an overnight firing shift, the soda kiln was being loaded and the people in my group wadded these for me in all kinds of fun ways:) I was worried they would all have the same pattern but they’re all so different and cool.

Made it to Mendocino Art Center after a nice long road trip the past couple days. Loading up the train kiln today and the soda kiln tomorrow.

It’s only when I really need to fire stuff that kiln needs maintenance! Needed to replace 2 of my relays. I only have this one kiln, it’s not very big, and it’s used for everything, so it needs maintenance routinely. I love my SKUTT because it’s easy to work on and the technicians are amazing for help. I’m learning more and more each fix.

The drain is fitting well with play room for shrinkage. Getting the drain hole right on a sink is way easier than getting the collar width perfect on one of my oil lamps. This clay has a 14% shrinkage rate so everything always looks giant when I first make it but just right after the firings.
