ā¤ļø 67 YEARS OF NEW EGYPT FLEA MARKET ā¤ļø

67 years ago today my dad, Esler ā€œLesā€ Heller, opened the New Egypt Flea Market.

I’m sure that day he had no idea what he was really starting.

He couldn’t have known how many thousands of people would walk through these grounds… how many merchants would build businesses here… how many friendships would begin here… or how many families would make coming to the market part of their own traditions.

And I’m pretty sure he couldn’t have imagined that 67 years later, the market he started would still be here—with four generations of our family continuing to be a part of it.

My dad built this place with hard work, determination and a vision that was completely his own. Over the years, it became so much more than buildings, tables and things to buy and sell. It became a community.

Dad passed away in 2018, but his presence is still very much a part of this place. I see him in the old buildings, in the stories people still tell, in merchants who have been here for decades, and in every market morning when those gates open once again.

What a legacy you left us, Dad. ā¤ļø

67 years later, we’re still here. Still opening the gates. Still welcoming people in. Still carrying on what you started.

Happy 67th Anniversary to the New Egypt Flea Market Village—and thank you, Dad, for having a dream big enough to last for generations. ā¤ļø

It is with so much sadness and the heaviest heart that we share the news that our dear friend and longtime merchant, Joan Cheesman, passed away peacefully Tuesday 7/14/2026

For many years, Joan was much more than a merchant at New Egypt Flea Market. In Building 15 in recent years. She was part of our market family. She shared her kindness, laughter, stories, and friendship with so many of us, and her presence will be deeply missed.

Many of you knew Joan well, whether through years of setting up beside her, shopping with her, or simply sharing conversations over the years. She touched more lives than she probably ever realized.

On behalf of the Heller Family and everyone at the market, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Dickie, Richie and Donna. We are grateful for the many years we were blessed to know her.

Please keep her family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Rest peacefully, Joan. You will always be a cherished part of our New Egypt Flea Market family. šŸ’œ

šŸŒž Heat Advisory for Today’s Market

New Egypt Flea Market will be open as usual today from 8 AM–2 PM.

With the extreme heat expected, we encourage everyone to take extra precautions:
• Stay hydrated.
• Wear light clothing and sunscreen.
• Take breaks in the shade whenever possible.
• If you’re feeling overheated, don’t hesitate to head home.

Our merchants will be doing their best in the heat, and we appreciate everyone’s understanding if some choose to leave a little early for safety.

We look forward to seeing you, and above all, please stay safe.
