Take time. From a recent trip the Smokey Mountains of Western North Carolina. I had the pleasure of spending time with two friends, and , and throughout the trip remembering a photo mentor of mine who passed. The trip reminded me to take the time to slow down and look for beauty and to and to be the water.

Chasing the Night Horse. I’ve been lucky enough to chase the Milky Way recently. This is one of my recent favorites. Night photography is different in the mountains compared to the Florida flat lands.

Seneca Rocks. This is one of the places I really wanted to see in the and I’m glad I did. The weather didn’t really want put on a great show for me but it did create a little drama.

Almost Heaven Arch. This was from my first Milky Way attempt in West Virginia. I was very happy to being staring into the heavens and enjoying the night air. I was even happier to capture the arch.

Coke Barn. This old barn is rural West Virginia. I found this doing my favorite activity, looking for old barns. I really liked the hillside behind the bar for the new spring growth.

Creek Barn. A new favorite while riding the back roads of West Virginia. This barn surrounded by new growth and shade by a hillside made me stop.

Spring fed horse. From a recent trip home. and I had been out at a different location shooting Milky Way. I decided to detour to a spot I had never shot before to check conditions. This was the result. Fortunately the Lyrid Meteor Shower was peaking and I caught a streaking meteor.

Watching the Keeper. Early October with we found a few clouds and the Milky Way. As the night progressed the clouds formed an eye that my last large panoramic shot. As I stitched it together the partial face became apparent and seemed to be keeping an eye on the lighthouse.

Lights of the Past. Taken recently on a return trip home. I have always been interested in star trails and have started making them. The motion in the sky is amazing anytime you can observe it.

Slipping Away. I have enjoyed photographing these animals every chance I get. This time was basically an overnight trip but it was great to hear their calls and watch the pre-rut rituals. This was taken early one morning with just a hint of fog sitting in their valley.

Forest light. Here’s to a wonderful 2023. This shot was from October on a trip to the North Carolina mountains. The light was shinning off of the yellow fall leaves producing a glow that I can’t describe. May all of our paths in 2023 have soft light, where we can wonder and see new possibilities. I wish everyone a happy, safe, and prosperous New Year.

Crossing. This is from a scouting trip before fall colors dropped down. I talked to a photographer at the parking area who said the leaves began to change over night. I love how the rapids cross the frame, remains me things come through our lives for a reason. The reason may be unknown but there is a purpose.
