We had 24 FCP youth travel to Lac du Flambeau to collect wigwas (birch bark) with Wayne Valliere for our wigwas thiman (birch bark canoe) and a wigwam. The area we collected from is currently being marked to be logged off. Our youth also attended the Indian Bowl Pow Wow with our Pow Wow club. There were over 30 FCP members in our group at the pow wow. Igwiyen to Wayne Valliere for donating us canoe bark and for teaching our youth about birch bark culture. Migwetth to our Summer Youth Employees for working hard and representing our nation.

We gathered gishki (cedar) for our wigwas thiman (birch bark canoe) with our Forester Kevin Makuck and Summer Youth Employees. The bark will be used for our wigwam and cedar mats. The bows will also be put to good use. We're also going to get wild rice knockers from the gishki.

Our first successful week with Summer Youth Employees (SYE). We had 13 youth join our program with more expected to join next week. We gathered basswood fiber for our teaching lodge, made to***co pouches and located birch bark for our upcoming canoe build.

Next week we will gather cedar and birch bark. These youth will also be attending a pow wow with our Pow Wow Club, Migwetth to the Cultural staff- Ned, Tiff, Theran, Brandon, our elder Ned Daniels Jr and Council Member Herb Daniels for supporting our SYE program.
