I always feel like I'm behind on a deadline and somehow also have precious little sense of the passage of time. A whole year ago?! I shared this in progress pic and I do finally have greeting cards of this cute fox and robin. I also restocked my other bird and bee cards on higher quality paper. As soon I as deal with my phobia about my website you can order there but in the meantime you can send me a message if you'd like some A2 blank greeting cards.

Dropped off "Midnight Message" and "Fisher's License" for the Myths and Fairytales show at The Fly Arts Center in Shelbyville, Tennessee. To sum up the day: It's easy to be pessimistic about selling original art right now but making art has really increased my "portfolio " of cool and interesting local people I know.

The workshop yesterday went well. And I kept my streak of forgetting to take a picture during any event I've ever done! We didn't get near drawing a complete portrait but I think everyone learned something new they'll be able to use in their art practice. I learned that it would probably be good to divide these topics into two different workshops - one on working with reference photos and the grid method where we draw a simpler subject and a different one on drawing facial feature studies. (This charcoal and pastel 18"x24" portrait study of David Bowie based on his 1976 mugshot is available at the Franklin County Art Guild's silent auction fundraiser for our scholarship fund until September 19th.)

Why in the world would anybody want to join the Franklin County Arts Guild and its gallery, Artisan Depot Gallery & Gift Shop? The reasons are many--community, education, inspiration, and FUN. Our Art Wednesdays group had a demonstration from Kim Phillips on how to create gorgeous paper flowers. PSSST... this will become a workshop soon; stay tuned.

Real life, behind the scenes peek at my process: I was so happy to have a few hours today I could call studio time. So the first thing I did when I got there was fold out the foam chair and lie down for a bit. Sometimes making breakfast and getting dressed is a lot of work. But if I lie down at home, I've given up on making it to the studio. If I lie down at the studio, I'm so close to making art. Just as soon as some ATP becomes available again there's nothing between me and the easel. And I was happy with the progress in the time I had. I got some paint that's light pink out of the tube. It's pulling its weight.
