Christmas in the Country of Lee Road community

Christmas in the Country of Lee Road community Christmas light display To keep our lights safe and for your own safety, drive thru ONLY!! Absolutely no foot traffic.

The owner is not responsible for any vehicle damages/accidents or personal injury. There’s no parking and the lot next to me, does not belong to me and is private property. There’s no charge, donations are greatly appreciated but are not necessary or required. This is a private residential property and we enjoy sharing our display with everyone. Please be aware that I have my own children, family,

and pets that maybe present, we try our best to keep the road clear. Lights will be on every night starting December 1st thru the first weekend of January permitting weather conditions (the lights cannot be on during High winds, snow, or heavy rains/severe storms). One way traffic at the beginning of the tunnel, please use courtesy when entering, if too many enter, it creates a traffic jam when other vehicles cannot exit. Proceed forward staying to the right side of road, if you turn wide enough at the end towards the house, there is no need to reverse and makes traffic run smoothly. Take your time, again please be courteous, and enjoy!!! Location is 79309 windom rd nw Covington, LA 70435

While most people this time of the year is thinking about vacations and or storm preparations, I’m already thinking about a Christmas display idea🤣🤣🤣 true story… would anyone happen to have some large sheets of plexiglass laying around that you’d like to donate?? I would love to add a building to the drive thru this year with my grandfather’s old Lionel train set driving thru my grandmothers village from Mervyns. Remember that store? Now I’m definitely showing my age🤣

So the last of the gifts were picked up today for James’s three children, and again I’d like to thank you all from the bottom of my heart that dropped a gift off for them. I’m sure they will be so greatly appreciated. I’m proud to be part of a community that pulls together to help those in their darkest hours. Thank you all, from the Cooks and the Gatlins, we wish you all a safe and merry Christmas and may god bless us all in the new year to come.

**please see entire post, updates are at the bottom ***

I will be hosting a toy drive thru for the son of Winget’s, Benjamin Bonura “James “ Friday December 20th during our light display drive thru hours (from sundown till 9 pm). As most of you know he lost his life last week in a tragic accident on Lee road. Unfortunately, I never had the honor to meet this young man, but I’ve read nothing but good things from the people in our community who interacted with him. He left behind a 1yo son. My husband grew up with Kirt Winget, so I reached out to him to see how can I help being that it’s so close to Christmas and I feel for his son. Gifts maybe wrapped or unwrapped, we’ll be outside to collect them on the porch. I will not be accepting any forms of money donations, there will be a benefit held Saturday at midpoint. Only new clothing that’s never been worn can and will be accepted as a gift as well.
***If I may suggest, include a gift receipt, that way if there’s too much of whatever or duplicate toys, she can exchange and purchase what the child needs. I’ll leave that up to y’all.
