Strings—reimagined.
If you (or someone you know) loves strings and wants to play beyond the page, this camp is for you. Advanced players looking to explore multiple styles and contemporary techniques. From regional fiddle styles and improvisation to “the chop,” students will learn primarily by ear in an engaging, creative environment.

This summer, Dr. Christopher Azzara, Eisenhart Professor of Music Teaching & Learning at the Eastman School of Music (University of Rochester), leads the SCC Music Educator Workshop—an immersive professional development experience focused on improvisation, creativity, and authentic music learning.
Taking place alongside SCC Jazz Camp, this workshop allows educators to:
🎼 Observe Dr. Azzara teaching jazz camp students in two 75-minute sessions
💬 Participate in two in-depth faculty Q&A sessions focused on pedagogy
🎷 Attend SCC Jazz Camp faculty concerts each afternoon
⏱️ Earn up to 5 professional development hours (with district approval)
While rooted in jazz, the strategies explored apply to all music genres.
