Last weekend, we were invited to perform at Montebello Plymouth Congregational Church's 67th Annual Bazaar. The event had a lot of great food, entertainment, games and raffle prizes, and many people came out to partake in the fun. For us, the best part was being able to reunite with our good friend, Jeannie, and have her join us onstage for Korekara, which she brought her usual fun, spirit and joy to the performance! Thank you so much for joining us, Jeannie, and we are so grateful to Karen, Lynne and Pastor Mitchell for inviting us to be a part of this great event! A great weekend for all!

Got to perform at Palos Verdes High School as they invited the Terminal Islanders to come speak to the students about what happened on Terminal Island during WWII. The students were respectful, asked great questions of Alice, who was a girl when she was forced to leave TI, and came up to try a little taiko. It's great to see how students are learning about this painful part of our history, in the hopes that it will not be repeated again.

Fun fact: PVHS was Robie's high school's biggest rival! She went to Rolling Hills High School, now Peninsula High School, as she grew up on the Hill. This gig was a walk down Memory Lane for her!

Our first Monterey Park Cherry Blossom Festival performance was a success! We had heard many good things about the festival, so we were happy to be asked to perform. Not only did the audience cheer and get involved, we had a special guest come up and join us - the famous Walter Nishinaka! When we saw each other earlier in the day, we knew we'd have to perform Korekara together, complete with baseball caps!

We also got to see so many wonderful friends! , who gave us a Mr. Popcy t-shirt (Robie's favorite!) and, if you look closely, you can see Warbie on our drum; and Sozenji Temple for the fun fortunes, chants and blessings, Tamie, Janis, Marc, Miles, Betty, Beverly and Auntie Marilynn, among others. Oh yes, Robie's parents were also there, cheering us on and taking some of these great pictures!

Thank you to everyone who came to watch us, Sandy for inviting us, and to Walter for joining us and making our performance even more fun! We look forward to seeing everyone again!

This Saturday, we'll be performing at the Monterey Park Cherry Blossom Festival at 3:00pm on the indoor stage! This will be our first time performing here, and we're really excited to be among a lot of great entertainers. There's something for everyone here, taiko, traditional Japanese dancers, cosplay, Polynesian dancing, and lots more, in including food, arts and crafts! Two days only, so come see what it's all about!

Did you come out to dance with us? If you didn't, you missed not one but TWO chances to dance! Special thanks to June and Long Beach Ondo for leading the Main Stage performance with fun dances like the Bunny Hop (for Easter) and Pokemon Ondo, where we almost caused a Pikachu inflated costume to faint with exhaustion! We then went indoors to the Nakamise Stage, where Wesley and the Little Tokyo Dance Club did a demonstration and audience participation which included Ashibinaa (with original choreographer, Christine, leading the dancing) and Korekara, a taiko piece which also has a dance to accompany it. Not to mention all the wonderful vendors selling great merchandise and food/drinks! A great time was had by all!

If you missed it, we'll definitely be doing this again soon! Much gratitude to and for having us share our love of ondo dancing and taiko!

Now doesn't this look like fun? Wouldn't you like to be a part of that fun and join in on the dancing? Not only getting to be a part of the act, but getting to check out hundreds of food vendors entertainment, kawaii gifts and more?

Then come out to the OC Japan Fair, happening this weekend at the OC Fairgrounds! We will be joining with Long Beach Ondo and the Little Tokyo Dance Club on April 5th to provide the drumbeats while they lead the dances...and everyone is invited to join in! We might even throw in a new dance or two! We'll be on the Main Stage at 1:10pm, then on the Nakamise Stage at 3:30pm. Come join in the fun and experience all that the OC Japan Fair has to offer!

Please go to www.oc-japanfair.com for more information or check out their social media pages to see all the acts and vendors. Join us in this celebration of Japanese culture!

Drum Tao has been our biggest inspiration since we began playing taiko. While we don't quite have their level of skill, stamina and members, we always loved how they communicate with and engage their audiences during their shows. The humor, smiles, laughs and cheers always makes everyone have fun. As a small, family group, we try to bring that same fun and cheer to our audiences as well.

It's an honor to see and talk to them when they come to LA, and yesterday was no exception. We got to thank them for being our inspiration, and encouraging us to try new things in taiko!

This morning, we had the pleasure of entertaining the seniors, who thoroughly enjoyed their experience with Taiko drumming. They also shared costumes from their home countries, told stories and danced up a storm!

Thank you, Crystal, for having us back, and to all the wonderful people who made this event so much fun!
