Huge thanks to Summit Pacific Medical Center for the shout-out! We were thrilled to help celebrate Hospital Week and show appreciation for the incredible people who keep SPMC running. Your team deserves all the recognition.

Summit Pacific Celebrates Employees and Supports Local Business with Handcrafted Hospital Week Gifts

During National Hospital Week in May, Summit Pacific Medical Center honored its caregivers in a unique and meaningful way by partnering with a local Grays Harbor business to provide every employee with a handcrafted piece of blown glass art.

As part of the week-long celebration recognizing the dedication and contributions of healthcare workers across the organization, each Summit Pacific employee received a one-of-a-kind glass art piece created by Opal Art Glass of Cosmopolis, Washington. Employees were invited to select from a stunning collection of colorful handmade creations featuring vibrant swirls, intricate patterns, and Pacific Northwest-inspired designs.

The initiative not only celebrated Summit Pacific's workforce but also highlighted the organization's commitment to supporting local businesses and investing in the economic vitality of the communities it serves.

“Hospital Week is about recognizing the incredible people who make exceptional care possible every day,” said Josh Martin, Chief Executive Officer of Summit Pacific Medical Center. “We wanted this year’s appreciation gift to be both meaningful and local.”

Partnering with Opal Art Glass allowed us to celebrate our caregivers while supporting a talented Grays Harbor business. It’s a reflection of our commitment to strengthening the communities we serve—not only through healthcare, but through partnerships that contribute to local economic development,” Martin said.

National Hospital Week is celebrated annually to recognize the entire healthcare ecosystem, including clinical and non-clinical staff who work together to provide high-quality care. In keeping with that spirit, Summit Pacific’s Hospital Week festivities included a variety of activities, events, and employee appreciation initiatives designed to thank staff for their dedication to patients and the community.

The handcrafted gifts came from Opal Art Glass, a family-owned studio established in 2001 by master glassblower Johnny Camp and his wife, Darlene. Located in Cosmopolis, the studio creates both traditional and contemporary blown-glass art using hand-tooling techniques. Their distinctive works draw inspiration from the landscapes, culture, and craftsmanship of the Pacific Northwest and have been displayed in galleries, museums, and gift shops around the world.

By choosing locally crafted gifts for Hospital Week, Summit Pacific sought to create a lasting token of appreciation for employees. The choice also spotlighted the creativity and entrepreneurship found within Grays Harbor County.

“Our employees dedicate themselves every day to caring for others,” Martin said. “We are grateful for their service, and we are equally proud to celebrate the local businesses and artisans that help make our community such a special place to live and work.”
