Art and Art History
Students here have the opportunity to choose from several options: painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography and art history. Our goal is to help stimulate intellectual and aesthetic inquiry, develop our students' creative and technical skills, and graduate engaged, culturally aware citizens. We are an inclusive unit—both majors and non-majors are welcome to learn here.
Our expert, full-time faculty work closely with students in small studio classes. Our faculty is comprised of working artists and researchers who consistently exhibit in both galleries and museums, and publish nationally and internationally. Renowned guest artists are frequently brought in to classes and hosted as featured speakers through our Visiting Artists and Scholars Lecture Series on campus. The Fairbanks Gallery on the first floor of Fairbanks Hall, hosts national art exhibitions and the West Gallery regularly features student artwork.
