Grace is approaching her first spring. It won't be long now for when I can add the names of contributors that made this project possible.

I've been interested in seeing what the Cortland Corset Building storm damage looked like. I knew it was pretty extensive. The storm happened when I was a year old so I was too young to remember. My folks were volunteer fire fighters at the time.

It's amazing to see how damaged it was, how it was recoveredand what it looks like now. I'm so happy to have the opportunity to add to this buildings rich history. I will be adding bricks for contributors in the spring.

Here is a side by side comparison.

Gearing up for phase two! I have been meeting with Timothy Robideau, a local wood worker getting ready to launch the Oswego Street Makery. It was discovered that restoring the four windows was not an option as originally planed. They are beyond repair. They will have to be replicated and replaced. I currently have just about enough to complete one of the windows, but am still seeking donations and will be looking for grants that specialize in historical restoration. I will also be reaching out to the Cortland Historical Society. Thus, I will be adding the bricks from sponsors in the spring/summer 2019 when the windows are installed. Then the project will be complete! A little longer than originally planned (winter is coming), but well worth the end result.

The goal is to design a community based skill share where anyone from the community, no matter their age or skill level, can drop in and learn from someone knowledgeable in the trade how these beautiful windows were constructed in the first place. The construction will tentatively be taking place at the Oswego Street Makery over the winter. We are also planning on documenting the progress and creating a film which will hopefully be screened after the installation of the windows. More details are to come in the next few months! It is going to be exciting, a great way to learn and a way to have your hands involved in this amazing community project.
