Who else is playing the daily "plant shuffle" right now? 🌱🪴

We are officially out of space! Getting everything ready for the summer garden, but these chilly Cortez nights mean I am constantly hauling this massive jungle in and out of the garage.

​Hurry up, warm weather!!!!!!—I am so stoked to get these in the ground! Here is the current spring headcount:

​🍅 81 Tomatoes
🥒 62 Cucumbers
🌶️ 142 Peppers (getting those special super hots ready for the next batches of hot sauce and pepper jelly!)
🪴 7 Ginger pots
🍋 2 Lemon trees
🧽 8 Loofahs plants
🐦 7 Birdhouse gourds
🌼🌸+++ lots of flowers starts

Some will be for sale at the first CFM (cortez farmers market!!! May 30th) Including my first super hot sale!!!!

​Plus, all the direct sows and garden starts: sunflowers, sugar snap peas, kale, spinach, onions, radishes, carrots, lettuce, and dill! 🌻🥕🥬

​Colorado weather, please cooperate so I can stop carrying hundreds and hundreds of pots in and out!!!! Who else is ready for the season to finally change? ☀️🌿

​If all those plants weren't enough, our tech station has been running non-stop out there, too! James has been busy 3D printing stuff for his cards, as well as firing away on custom jewelry displays for Hummingbird Hues—plus some other fun stuff coming soon from the lazer printer! 🖨️✨

Current status: Waiting on the Cortez weather to catch up to my gardening goals! ☁️⏳

​Until then, the garage is a full-blown jungle. Between the two lemon trees, my thriving ginger plants, and tables full of starts, there’s barely room to move, but there’s so much life in here! My favorite part is the tag Jordyn made for our birdhouse gourds ❤️

We have 20 total feet of tables overflowing with future ingredients and garden beauties. It’s a daily mission moving these guys to the driveway for their dose of Vitamin D and back into the garage to stay warm overnight.

I can’t wait for the weather to finally play nice so I can get these into the ground and watch them flourish. Happy growing! 🌱✨

What a WEEKEND!! We had the privilege of setting up at the Montezuma home & garden show for our second year, and it was even better than last year. And today we got to go to the Durango bluegrass meltdown and hear some fantastic bands play.

My cup runneth over.

It’s been a full year of focus at the bench, and I am so excited to finally share what I’ve been working on! I’m finally taking the time to get everything uploaded to the Hummingbird Hues Etsy shop.

​I’ve started by listing my latest handcrafted pendants, but stay tuned—rings will be joining the collection very soon. Thank you for being patient while I traded my keyboard for my soldering torch this past year! ✨

🌶️✨Proof that "perfect" is the enemy of "possible."

If you walked into my garage right now, you’d see a bit of a chaotic mess. It’s cluttered, the space is tight, and there’s barely enough room to move between the trays—but every square inch of this room is being put to work. Today was a massive day of up-potting the peppers, and looking at these hundreds of healthy starts, I couldn’t help but reminisce.

If you would have told me 15 years ago that I’d be the person spending my afternoons with dirt under my fingernails, obsessing over soil health, managing a flock of chickens, and growing a massive garden... I wouldn’t have believed you. That version of me didn't even have "gardener" on her radar.
It’s a beautiful reminder of how life works. We spend so much time planning who we think we should be, only to realize that who we are is waiting for us in these quiet moments of hard work.

Our setup isn't fancy, and the space isn't "ideal," but it’s proof that you don’t need a perfect environment to start something incredible. Anything is possible when you set your mind to it and just start where you are. We aren’t just growing plants in this garage; we’re growing into the people we were always meant to be.

Keep growing, keep evolving, and don’t be afraid of the person you’re becoming—even if she looks nothing like who you thought she’d be 15 years ago. 🌱🐔🌶️

Today I worked on an idea I've had for a while.

It's been quite a trying few weeks, and it felt like this was exactly the right time to bring this together.

I've been wanting to work on a line of Ichthys, and I couldn't be happier with this first one. Sterling and a beautiful deep red garnet, which, to me, symbolizes the blood of Christ. Symbolizing divine love, redemption, forgiveness, and protection, and overcoming evil. 🙏
