The Texas State Aquarium is a private not-for-profit aquarium where people of all ages and can get up close and interact with many different kinds of animals, enjoy educational and entertaining exhibits featuring more than 300 species, learn about conservation and how our actions impact the other inhabitants of both the ocean and land, and thrill at exciting presentations featuring bottlenose dolphins, macaws and other kinds of birds, and an assortment of fascinating mammals.

🐢🙌 Today is National Wildlife Day! 🎉 Our wildlife rescue journey efforts began in 1995, and over the past three decades, our efforts have grown tremendously. Thanks to YOUR support, we've rehabilitated and released more than 6,000 animals back into their natural habitats! We are currently caring for 5 green sea turtles recovering from the cold stun event this past January. Our team continues to perform weekly weigh-ins and health checks on all patients, administering any necessary medications or treatments at the Sea Turtle Hospital. Thank you for being part of this incredible journey, every rescue, every release, and every life saved is possible because of your support! 🌿💚💙

Looking for Labor Day weekend plans? ☀️ Come see us at the Aquarium! We will be OPEN all weekend, including Monday. Our Labor Day hours are 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. The H-E-B Splash Park will be open from 11:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.

After Labor Day, the Splash Park will be open from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. during the following WEEKENDS ONLY:
💦 September 12–13
💦 September 19–20
💦 September 26–27

👋 The H-E-B Splash Park will close for the season beginning Monday, September 28, 2026.

*Water features will be turned off 15 minutes prior to closing, to allow guests time to exit before the facility closes.

🐢 Meet Einstein, who is our only Hawksbill sea turtle has been with us since 1990. Einstein is a chronic “beacher.” She was found beached three separate times. She was released the first two times, but on the third one, she was deemed non-releasable. It's easy to identify Einstein because of her V-shaped jaw.

Come by our Turtle Tales presentations at 1:00 p.m. or 2:30 p.m. and see if you can spot Einstein! 💙

“Never disappoints! We always have the best time! ❤️🐬🐠” — Camilla

Camilla and her family are making the most of their Aquarium membership! 💙 During their visit to Ocean Odyssey, our brand-new indoor children’s discovery center, they dressed up as veterinarians and used their imaginations to care for animals while exploring the rescue-themed play spaces. 🩺🐢

📍 Ocean Odyssey is located adjacent to Fathoms, a food and beverage area with bar-top seating that gives parents and caregivers a place to enjoy refreshments while keeping an eye on their little ones at play.

Come find your calm beneath the surface. 💙 Swing by our Underwater Observation Area, take a moment to recharge and watch Shadow and his friends glide through the water. We’re open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. 🌊

Fun fact: Bottlenose dolphins swim by moving their powerful tail flukes up and down, rather than side to side like fish. Their streamlined bodies help them glide efficiently through the water, making every movement look almost effortless. 🐬

Make a splash at our H-E-B Splash Park, open Saturdays and Sundays, then cool off indoors and explore our new children’s discovery center, Ocean Odyssey, open daily! ✨

With plenty to see and do, there’s no better way to spend your weekend with us!

Some moments make you stop and stare. 🦈💙

Sandbar sharks are powerful swimmers, using their muscular bodies and large tails to move efficiently through the water. Their large pectoral fins help them glide and maneuver, while their powerful tail provides most of the thrust.

Her beautiful eyes aren’t just for show. Ocelots have excellent night vision that helps them spot prey in low light, making them skilled nighttime hunters. 🌙 Come say hello! We’re open daily from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. 💙
