This page is meant to create a space of collaboration to keep the discussions going beyond our meetings. Several ways we will facilitate further discussion are as follows:
*Writing Prompts
- each week we will look at a famous traditional poet or contemporary poet (of the clubs' choice)
- draw from a pool of written suggestions (it is strongly encouraged that the entire group follow this prompt,
to show how the different writing styles and attitudes at work can change the path of the piece; group members may also choose to do an additional piece unrelated to the writing prompt).
*A "Buddy-System"
- group members will be paired off with another group members for a certain amount of time, during which they will collaborate more closely with each other than in the group meetings. This will encourage cross-genre study and broaden members' appreciation for many different types of writing.
- pairings will be switched after the allotted time has ended
- pairing will be done through a lottery system
*Events
- as the club grows we plan to have events, held and hosted by Islander Creative Writers.
