In the summer of 1991, Pearl Jam’s Ten became a big part of the soundtrack for my 1,600 mile move from Maryland to Texas.

My older brother and I took turns behind the wheel of my soft top ’87 Jeep Wrangler, covering the distance in two days with a stop somewhere in Louisiana for the night. When we reached Corpus Christi, it felt like another world.

All these years later, Ten can still put me back in that old Jeep with the highway stretching out ahead, and an uncertain but exciting future.

Happy National Radio Day! This radio sits in my living room. My grandpa bought it in the 1940s. As a boy, my dad sat down by it and listened to his favorite radio shows. When I was a kid, I wanted to be one of the voices on the radio and I’m grateful to say that I’ve been on the air in Corpus Christi since 1995. The best part of radio has always been the connection. Sharing a song, a laugh, a story, or just a little company along the way. To everyone who spends part of their day listening, thank you. I truly appreciate you being on the other side of the speakers.

Frank Beard, ZZ Top's hard-shuffling drummer who performed with the group for more than 55 years, has died at age 77.

Tropical Depression Two over is forecast to gradually strengthen as it moves WNW. It could become a tropical storm today. those of us along the Texas coast should monitor this system closely. Forecast cone shifted slightly southward.
