Youth Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes The Youth Orchestra, in affiliation with the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes, is an ensemble of some of the finest young musicians in our region.

The Youth Orchestra is an ensemble of some of the finest young musicians in our region. The YOSFL offers an opportunity for our talented local youth to grow as musicians and make friends that share similar interests. Being involved in this program is a great learning experience that many students say helped them to have a true appreciation for working with a group, as well as music in general. Hig

h school or extremely advanced middle school string, woodwind, brass, and percussion players are welcome in the YOSFL. Students are drawn from communities throughout the region, including: Horseheads, Corning, Elmira, Ithaca, Wellsboro, Sayre, and beyond.

Go on an adventure with the talented students of the Youth Orchestra as they perform a variety of pieces, including from the movies Up and Star Wars.

Admission is FREE! We'll see you at the First Presbyterian Church of Horseheads this Sunday at 4:00 PM!

📣 Calling young artists! The OSFL is now accepting applications for the annual Doreen B. Hertzog Concerto & Aria Competition! Student musicians grades 9 through 12 are invited to audition on piano, strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, and voice. The winner will perform one movement of a concerto or aria with the Orchestra of the Southern Finger Lakes during the 2024-2025 Season!

Preliminary round applications and recordings are due by 12 PM noon on Tuesday, May 14, 2024. A maximum of 12 finalists will be selected to compete in person on June 1, 2024, in Horseheads, NY.
