West End Gallery is a family owned and operated fine arts gallery celebrating 49 years representing professional artists on historic Market Street in Corning, NY. West End Gallery is a family owned and operated fine arts gallery celebrating 47 years in business on historic Market Street in Corning, NY. Visitors will find a diverse selection of fine art created by more than 50 exceptional professional artists primarily residing in the Finger Lakes region! The Gallery exhibits artwork in a variety of styles and subjects by emerging and nationally known artists. Buechner, Richell Castellón, Trish Coonrod, Joseph Q. Daily, Tom Gardner, Brian M. Hart, Amy Hutto, Brian S. Keeler, Jennifer Miller, GC Myers, Gina Pfleegor, Martin A. Poole, Judy Soprano, Gary Weisman and Treacy Ziegler. With eight exhibits scheduled per year, visitors will always see something new. Original art is available in a variety of mediums including oil, acrylic, watercolor, ceramics, wood, bronze, glass and more! All glass is made locally. Upon receiving a warm welcome from a friendly, knowledgeable staff, guests are invited to wander through two floors of gallery space at their leisure. 🎨 ABOUT THE ARTIST: Jennifer Miller | "I live in rural NY State in the USA, where I am surrounded by all I love most: a natural setting of eastern deciduous forest and wildlife, where visiting birds are a special delight. In addition to the company of wild birds, I happily keep a flock of chickens and am entertained by their individual personalities. I also keep the companionship of a wonderful pet cockatiel in my home. The wild and domestic birds are endless inspiration for my work, even finding their way into my fantasy art, where the imaginative creatures are given the same attention to detail, anatomy, and behavior as their real counterparts. I share my life and adventures with my supportive partner.

My interests are very similar to the artwork I create; birds especially are a passion of mine, and I spend long hours observing and studying them both in the wild as well as via literature. I love exploring the natural world and enjoy learning about both flora and fauna. Every walk outdoors is a nature walk, and hikes are often long affairs with more stopping and looking than actual hiking. I also love learning about and applying long-term sustainability ideals to my property both in gardening and also in restoring native habitat. Growing and restoring native plant species is a special interest in particular.

Most of the birds in this group of paintings are individuals that I’ve gotten to know in my own backyard. I’ve been kindling a deep connection with them over the last several years, as I’ve worked to improve their habitat and re-establish the native plants in the little tiny piece of the earth I call my yard. I’ve been finding myself very inspired by both the familiar bird visitors and behaviors as well as all the new species and interactions I’ve been seeing. These paintings reflect my sense of wonder in the things found close to home.”

🎨 ABOUT THE ARTIST: Christina Johnson is from Johnstown, NY, a small town nestled in the Foothills of the Adirondacks. 🎨 ABOUT THE ARTIST: Tom Gardner was born in Upstate New York, in the Finger Lakes Region, and has been drawing and painting for as long as he can remember. He has won awards from the National Academy of the Arts, Arnot Art Museum, Roberson Museum, and American Artist Magazine, among others. Gardner has been featured in both group and solo exhibits across the nation – in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, Wyoming, and Massachusetts. He has traveled broadly and paints wherever he goes. He has visited Italy, Chile, Mexico, Bermuda, the Virgin Islands and extensively across the United States, Alaska included. Gardner will just pick up his paint box and go.

He says, “I just paint.” Unpretentious, in fact, anti-pretentious, Tom Gardner is an artist full of both feeling and thought who believes that art should be accessible to everyone without explanation. Like many artists, he paints because he must. He is compelled and finds that some part of him seems broken when he cannot create daily.

Gardner has also become an established sculptor with many public works of art. He has done projects for the Federal Government (I-86 Horseheads bypass project), The Rockwell Museum, Elmira College, Sperr Memorial Park, The ARTS of the Southern Finger Lakes as well as for private collectors.

Gardner describes himself as largely self-taught and he is an avid learner. After college he continued to seek opportunities to gain experience and he painted regularly for many years with Thomas S. Buechner and Martin Poole in Corning, New York. He has also found workshops and classes elsewhere on specific techniques to be helpful; but he visits galleries and museums, reads, and listens to the voice within him, finding his own artistic vocabulary and vision.

Tom is currently featured in our "Fall Spotlight" exhibit which is on view now through Thursday, October 8th 2026.
