Discovered today on You Tube- a video tour of the Historic Coleman Theater in Miami, OK where I’ve been playing the Mighty WurliTzer theatre pipe organ with silent films now for 16 years! Filmed for TV broadcast during my performance visit just 2 weeks ago (and I should mention that IS me playing the organ heard in the demonstration playback while our esteemed General Manager Danny Dillon being interviewed).

The historic theatre in downtown Miami is joining the centennial celebration of Route 66 this year, serving as both a tourist attraction and a gathering place

CHECK IT OUT . . . Our new Musica Curiosa program debuting Friday, July 17 at 12 noon at Alfred U.’s annual summer MostArts festival in Alfred, NY:
“MOZART’S MUSICAL CURIOSITIES, Crystal City Music’s newest Informance, introduces the earliest works of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, composed between the ages of three and six, while exploring the childhood beginnings of his musical studies. The publication of these compositions brought Mozart’s extraordinary gifts to the broader musical world and led to concert tours together with father Leopold and sister Nannerl. These Mozart family performances astonished audiences in Europe’s leading royal courts and quickly established the young Mozarts among the most celebrated musicians of their time.

Avidly absorbing the rich variety of musical influences surrounding him, the young Wolfgang Amadeus developed his burgeoning interests into a wide range of creative compositions. This one-hour, visually illustrated program presents works ranging from delicate early pieces to late-career music for mechanical clockwork instruments and exotic glass instruments, together with engaging stories connected to each selection.

Including discussion of today’s growing interest in Mozart’s equally gifted sister, Nannerl, this up-to-date exploration of Mozart’s unusual and rarely performed works is presented using both original and authentic reproduction 18th-century instruments. Together, they provide a fascinating window into the musical culture of the Mozart family’s 18th-century world — a legacy whose influence continues to resonate through the centuries.
