Thank you, Miami!
To our loyal audience who have supported us for 30 years, thank you from the bottom of my heart. It was a blessing to share the stage with Noelia Zanón, whose powerful and sweet voice brought fresh interpretations to beloved boleros. My dear Lázaro Horta, thank you for your beautiful compositions, unique voice, impeccable intonation, and expressive piano accompaniment. To my beloved orchestra, thank you for always giving your very best.
I am forever grateful for the opportunity to share 30 years of work with my father, Maestro José Ramón Urbay, a true legend of Cuban music. I thank God for allowing me to share the baton with him and celebrate his 89th birthday and 72 years of artistic life.
This production was possible because so many people contributed their time, talent, effort, and love. My deepest gratitude to the media; MDCA for its continued support through the Away From Home series; and historic Miami Senior High for opening its doors to us.
Special thanks to Ms. Cid and her students for sound and lighting; Pepín for helping us achieve the best possible sound; Maritza for the programs, ticket sales with Caro Entertainment, and countless details; Mónica Chacín for helping us find a rehearsal home and creating the beautiful flower arrangements; and Claudia, Irwin, and Daniel for seating more than a thousand guests.
Thank you to Alfredo Collado, Rubén, and Felipito for makeup and hairstyling; W***y Cardoso and Ana for their help and friendship; Alberto Romeu for his beautiful photographs; and Janiset Rivero for serving on the orchestra’s Board of Directors and presenting Maestro Urbay with recognition for his 30 years with the Florida Chamber Orchestra.
Thank you to Lina Ruiz for presenting, on behalf of Miami-Dade County and its Mayor, a proclamation honoring my father and declaring August 30 José Ramón Urbay Day. It was also an honor to receive, with my father, a proclamation from the City of Hialeah declaring August 30 Urbay Day.
Thank you to my mother for teaching me perseverance, discipline, and respect. Thank you, God, all my angels, and the music.
