⚠️ Email Delivery Notice

The City of Copperas Cove is currently experiencing difficulties sending email responses to some Yahoo email addresses.

Our Information Technology Department is aware of the issue and is actively working to resolve it. If you have contacted a City department using a Yahoo email address and have not received a response, please know that your message may have been affected by this issue.

For any vendors that are awaiting more information, please know that I have received your e-mail and once the issue has been resolved, I will contact you back or you can call up at the office at 254-542-2719 for immediate assistance.

For any food vendors that we have hosted or planning on hosting for future events, please be aware of the changes coming July 1st to permits. Get those permits done through DSHS as soon as possible!

City of Copperas Cove Announces Changes to Mobile Food Vendor

Copperas Cove, Texas – The City of Copperas Cove is notifying all Mobile Food Vendors of important changes to licensing and permitting requirements following the passage of Texas House Bill 2844.

Effective July 1, 2026, all Mobile Food Vendor permits previously issued by the City of Copperas Cove will expire. Under the new state law, anyone operating as a Mobile Food Vendor (MFV) in Texas must obtain a Mobile Food Vendor License from the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). A separate license is required for each mobile food vending vehicle.

The City of Copperas Cove will not be partnering with DSHS to conduct Mobile Food Vendor inspections. Vendors wishing to continue operating must apply directly through DSHS.

Vendors who currently hold a valid permit issued by the City of Copperas Cove or another Texas local health department may continue operating while their DSHS application is being processed if they:
• Provide proof of their current local permit when applying through DSHS
• Submit a completed application and required fees to DSHS
• Keep a printed copy of their DSHS application summary and payment receipt in the food vending vehicle at all times

Vendors are encouraged to review the DSHS Mobile Food Vendor Guide and begin the licensing process as soon as possible to avoid interruptions in service.
