Just a few ramblings from a small biz owner…

Creating for you truly means the world to me. Every order that leaves my shop is made with care, intention, and a whole lot of time behind the scenes. I have always aimed to keep my prices fair and accessible, while still honoring the time, materials, and energy that go into each piece.

In the decade my shop has been open, postal rates have increased THIRTEEN times, with another increase coming on January 18. Every time shipping or material costs change, I have to carefully reassess pricing and offerings. In some cases, it even means letting go of products clients loved and still request (like doormats) because the final cost just no longer felt right for customers once everything was factored in.

I wanted to share this not as a complaint, but as a glimpse into the reality of running a small business. Pricing and inventory decisions are never made on a whim. They are thoughtful, sometimes hard, and always made with care for both my customers and myself.

Above all, I am incredibly grateful. Your support over the years has meant more than you’ll ever know. Every order, share, kind review, and repeat purchase has truly made a difference in my world. Shopping small may sometimes cost a little more than big box alternatives, but the impact is personal, meaningful, and deeply appreciated.

Just received the sweetest message from a past client and decided it deserved a permanent place on my grid as a reminder of the why behind what I do. Over the years I have lettered thousands of globes, many for repeats clients who have incorporated my ornaments into some of their traditions- welcoming new family members, celebrating milestones like graduations and retirements, or showing gratitude for teachers and world’s best family members 💕

In the busyness of the season it’s so easy to forget the why of it all, and I’m so grateful that this past customer took just a few minutes out of her busy season to remind me what matters most. As cheesy and cliche as it may be- people and their stories really are the soul of Whimsy Type.

Whimsy Type started as a creative outlet for a burned out mom, but has turned into an example for my kiddos of what a little passion and hard work can do. That we can all make an impact in our tiny corners of the world. It’s turned into an annual holiday tradition in my home with a basement overflowing with globes and late night packaging sessions. And best of all, it’s turned into traditions for so many other families as they reminisce over the stories each ornament I create represents.

All that to say, THANK YOU. Thank you for continuing to trust me to create for you, and thank you for allowing me to play a small role in your stories. I promise it’s not wasted on me. Each order helps support my dream of showing my kids the world… and possibly contribute to their future therapy bills when they work through the trauma of the child labor mom subjected them to each holiday season 😉😂

I also offer a rotating selection of pre-made, ready-to-ship ornaments for anyone who needs a last-minute gift. These are often sample designs or popular styles listed at a discount. While they aren’t fully customizable, most still allow you to add a name or date — and they ship next day!

Just leaving this here to say yes, I’m still alive and still lettering on occasion. I’ve taken a bit of a detour and shifted majority of my focus over at but I keep my Etsy shop open and running in between my travels. So to those who continue to support me on my lettering journey, thank you. And as we head into the upcoming holiday season, I’m working on restocking ornaments and I’m looking forward to the opportunity to create for you! 💕
