I just wanted to let you all know I have been having some medical issues lately and am not able to do much rocking or posting. I am going to take a small break to heal. After that, I have a couple projects lined up! The one I am super excited about is build a high capacity tumbler!

I didn’t know this was possible 😳 Now both of my small rotary tumblers are out of service. I think it is time to get back to building my high capacity tumbler! One set of bars that can fit at least 4 barrels.

Had another true ā€œlearning the hard wayā€ moment today.

The water system on my cabbing machine lost pressure on the farthest wheels from the pump, so the wheels weren’t getting enough water to stay cool. Took the whole thing apart and ran the spray nozzles through an ultrasonic cleaner after seeing someone online recommend it.

It helped a little… but not nearly enough. So now I’m thinking it may actually be a pump issue instead of clogged lines. Time to figure out how to test and clean the pump next.

Owning lapidary equipment sometimes feels like being part rockhound, part mechanic, part plumber. šŸ˜‚

The cutting isn’t the exciting part… the secret hidden inside for millions of years is.

You see one rock go through a saw, you’ve basically seen them all. But the inside? That moment has never existed before. No one on earth has seen it until the slab opens.

That’s the magic part to me.

Another batch of rocks done! All of these were local beach finds. I’ll have to get better at taking pictures because these do not do the colors justice!

Finished two more cabs! I feel like i am getting better. Up next will be petrified wood šŸ¤žšŸ¼ It is thin, so hope I don’t break it.
