Glimmer Globe Theatre was founded by Danielle Henrici (nee Danielle Newell) in Cooperstown, NY in the winter of 2010. After producing several smaller shows including "Lone Star" and "Laundry and Bourbon," Glimmer Globe undertook the comedy "The Compleat Works of Wllm Shkspr (abridged)." Danielle cast Michael Henrici in one of the principal roles and the rest, as they say, is history: Danielle and

Michael are now husband and wife, in addition to being co-artistic directors. In 2014, Glimmer Globe found a permanent home at Fenimore Art Museum and The Farmers' Museum, and now exists as a program of the museums managed by Michael Tamburrino. Hamilton Amphitheater overlooking Otsego Lake (aka "Glimmerglass Lake") became the summer venue. Performances are Wednesday and Thursday (plus some Friday) evenings in July and August at 7 PM. A wonderful group of actors and directors revolves through Glimmer Globe's play readings and highly acclaimed productions. Recent main stage favorites include "Macbeth," "Shakespeare (abridged)," "Othello," "The Importance of Being Earnest," "Our Town," and "The Taming of the Shrew". Glimmer Globe Theatre is dedicated to producing the highest quality live theatrical productions, while also providing opportunities for burgeoning creative talent to grow and shine.

You only have TWO MORE CHANCES to catch our new production of William Shakespeare's 'As You Like It', running on Wed./Thurs. evenings through August 13! But don't wait too long... tickets are going FAST! Next up in our cast spotlight series is John Melvin, who plays the exiled Duke Senior!

John Melvin (Duke Senior) is an active musician and actor in Central New York. He has appeared at Fenimore Performing Arts in Hamlet (Claudius), Twelfth Night (Malvolio), A Christmas Carol (Bob Cratchet) and Cox and Box (Bouncer). He plays bass in the cover band Rezenens. John has enjoyed playing this role because of the Duke’s change in attitude from forest land for logging to that of preservation. John comes from a family that created the alpha purchase for the newly formed New York Nature Conservancy. Between 1968-1972, the Melvin family worked with the Conservancy to transfer the Santanoni Preserve from private to public access. I imagine that Duke Senior, Rosalind, and Orlando would have worked to preserve the
Catskill Escarpment (our Forest of Arden) in a similar manner.
