Box started by a woodworking colleague Jimmie. He did not like the way it looked so he gave it to me and said since you like it-it’s yours. I added the Zebrawood/Wenge/Padauk sunburst to the lid and the rosewood handle. Also gave it a purpose as home to my sharpening tools and fixtures providing an organized cherry tray in the bottom of the box and some rare earth magnets to hold smaller tools inside the lid. Added a sealing closure inner frame to keep humidity out. All finished with 2 wipe on coats of Osmo Polyx-Oil satin then waxed and hand buffed.

A pair of custom lamps for a commission. Based on a FLW design for print stands and modified to be a 60 “ tall lamp. Wood is cherry selected from sequentially cut boards to maintain clout and grain consistency. Lamp shade is rice paper over styrene. Lamp is 60 watt led equivalent on a dimmer. Finish is Osmo 3043 Satin 2 coats followed by 600 grit sanding and furniture wax buffed for even luster.

A pool cue and ball rack to accompany a Taliesin Floor lamp. Influenced by FLW the rack is made of Ugily and Sapele mahogany with accents of rosewood and figured maple. A very fun commission to work through to completion.

Blanket Chest built for first grand daughter. Legs, frame, floor and lid are Jatoba. Panels are figured maple with walnut. Drawer fronts are walnut, sides are maple, backs are western red cedar. The hinges are spring loaded and hold the lid open in any position - available at Rockler. Mortise and tenon construction, all tenons pined with a rosewood round pin with square top.

All parts were pre finished before assembly. Finish is Osmo Polyx-oil, hard wax oil, 3043 satin.

A commissioned box for 5” x 8” index cards with the only requests being it open with a wooden hinge. Well it’s done in quarter sawn quilted cherry with a floating Zebrawood panel in the box top surrounded by Walnut. Splines are Jatoba and the hinge is Ugily mahogany. The dowel is turned to the exact diameter of the routed barrel enclosure which is approx 1/2”. Each section of the hinge barrel is marked and drilled from either end then re-drilled with 1/32 oversized drill. Hinge pin is 1/8 brass rod. Thanks to for the inspiration to try and make this work - ta-da !! Finish is 2 coats Osmo 3034 satin. Wood pre sanded to 320 grit. Waxed with Varathane furniture wax and buffed.

The handle is a 3/16” Dowell wrapped in surveyors nylon line, mounted between Zebrawood 1/4” cubes.
