In honor of our upcoming Young Choreographers Showcase, here’s a little throwback to our 2011 showcase! Back then, we held the show in January at the Backdoor Playhouse at TTU, and today our annual showcase has found a new home at CPAC in the fall. While the location and time of year have changed, the heart of the program remains the same. Our students take a class that dives into the inner workings of choreography for dance, learning how to create movement, develop ideas, work with dancers, and bring their artistic vision to life before having the opportunity to create and perform their own work on stage. Encouraging and inspiring young artists has always been a major goal of our program, and one of the most rewarding parts has been watching so many of our dancers take that experience with them after high school and go on to teach, create, choreograph, and inspire others. More to come on this year’s young choreographers, but for now, enjoy a little inspiration from the past!
