Some losses feel especially close to home.

This week, Red Curtain Theatre mourns the passing of two extraordinary artists who gave the world so much joy, courage, laughter, music, and magic: Dolly Parton and Tim Curry, and we would be remiss to let their passing pass without mentioning the love they had a hand in bringing to our stage.

In our recent production of 9 to 5: The Musical, somewhere along the way, our cast became family, living and breathing all things Dolly. At our very first cast party, toasts to one another lasted nearly two hours, filled with laughter, gratitude, and more than a few tears.

And now, as we prepare to step into The Rocky Horror Show for the third time, we are reminded again of the extraordinary bond this show creates; when the heels and fishnets are finally packed away, our casts take with them friendships and memories that last a lifetime.

Thank you, Dolly and Tim, for reminding us that being bold, being joyful, being different, and gathering together in a theatre can change people.

As Tim Curry said, “You can't stay away from the theater too long.”

So we’ll keep singing. We’ll keep gathering. Rest in love to two amazing artists who have brought so much love and joy through our doors.

We are so excited to keep announcing more additions to the RCT family! Please help us welcome Alicia Williams as our flute instructor!

We love walking down our halls and hearing the laughter from improv or acting class; flute, piano, and guitar from instrument instruction, and broadway smashes being belted all at the same time!

With over 25 years of experience teaching private flute lessons, Alicia brings a wealth of knowledge working with students of all ages and ability levels. She has served as an adjunct flute instructor at Harding University and ASU-Beebe and is beginning her 11th year as the adjunct flute instructor at Hendrix College. In addition to private instruction, Alicia’s day job is teaching elementary music, giving her a strong passion for helping young musicians discover the joy of making music.

Alicia has also performed with area orchestras for more than 25 years on flute and piccolo. She has been a member of both the Conway Symphony Orchestra and Pine Bluff Symphony Orchestra and has performed as a substitute musician with the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra for more than 20 years.

Her musical training includes flute studies and pedagogy at the University of Central Arkansas with Carolyn Brown, as well as masterclasses with renowned flutists including Sheryl Cohen, Ian Clarke, Walfrid Kujala, and Mary Posses.

When Alicia is not teaching, she loves spending time with her family, being entertained by her amazingly talented “kids” (Mia, Drew, and Mack), and enjoying all kinds of games, cards, puzzles, and crafty projects. She is also a sucker for all things Eeyore, cats, and Bob Ross.

Alicia is excited to bring her experience, enthusiasm, and love of music to Red Curtain Theatre and looks forward to helping students grow as confident and expressive musicians!

Rehearsals begin NEXT WEEK, so the countdown to midnight madness is officially on. Expect corsets, fishnets, glitter, mayhem, and a whole lot of Transylvanian energy.

PERFORMER SPOTLIGHT: Reznor DeLamar!

What I’ve Been Looking For? We think we found it!

Reznor DeLamar will be taking the stage at the August Red Curtain Rendezvous: Addams Family Cast Cabaret, performing “What I’ve Been Looking For” from High School Musical with Aryana!

While Reznor sent us back to his previous form for his favorite thing about The Addams Family Young@Part and his favorite spooky memory, he did give us his favorite character: Wednesday! He especially loves her character arc, and honestly, we can’t blame him.

Come see Reznor, Aryana, and the rest of this talented cast step outside the Addams world and show off some of their favorite songs!
