Our bat-eared foxes may look wild, but sometimes they act just like affectionate house cats! 🦊💛 In this video, they rub against me to say hello and enjoy a little attention.

You’ll also see places where they have dug into the dirt. Digging is a natural behavior for bat-eared foxes, and the cooler soil gives them a comfortable place to rest when the weather is hot.

Sweet, curious and clever—these little foxes are always fun to spend time with! Come see them at Wild Woods Farm.

🦓 Rain or shine, this zebra makes his own choices!

While the rest of the herd headed for shelter, he decided the pasture was exactly where he wanted to be. Zebras and horses are relatives, but zebras are wild animals—not striped horses. Zebras generally have a stronger fight-or-flight response, are less domesticated, and can be more unpredictable than the horses we know and love.

Those famous stripes are unique to each zebra, much like human fingerprints. They may help zebras recognize one another and can also make it harder for biting flies to land.

Zebras may look inviting, but please remember: **they can and will bite.** For everyone’s safety, admire our zebra from behind the designated barrier and never try to touch or feed him unless a Wild Woods Farm team member specifically says it is safe.

Come see him—and more than 200 other animals—at Wild Woods Farm!

🦥 Meet the sloths of Wild Woods Farm—three adult females and one youngster!

Two-toed sloths are specially adapted for life in the trees. Their long, curved claws help them hang securely from branches, and they can even eat, sleep, and give birth while hanging upside down! Their slow movement helps them conserve energy while digesting their leafy diet.

Sloths may look sleepy, but they are excellent climbers and surprisingly strong swimmers. They also have a very slow digestive system, and their fur can support algae that helps them blend into their forest habitat.

Watch the video to learn more, then come see our four lovely ladies for yourself at Wild Woods Farm! Please remember that sloths cannot be held, but you can enjoy an unforgettable up-close experience during a reserved Sloth Encounter.

🪶 Meet three of the beautiful pheasant species at Wild Woods Farm: Silver, Lady Amherst’s, and Red Golden Pheasants!

These colorful birds are native to parts of Asia, and the males are especially known for their elaborate plumage:

🤍 Silver Pheasants have striking white-and-black feathers with vivid red faces.
🌈 Lady Amherst’s Pheasants display an amazing mixture of white, black, green, blue, red, and yellow.
❤️ Red Golden Pheasants are famous for their bright golden crests, red bodies, and colorful cape-like neck feathers.

Female pheasants usually have brown, earth-toned feathers that help them remain camouflaged while nesting. Pheasants spend much of their time searching the ground for seeds, plants, berries, and insects—but they can quickly fly into trees when startled.

Watch the video to learn more, then come admire these incredible birds at Wild Woods Farm!

📚🐾 This is what it looks like when education comes to life!

During her visit to Wild Woods Farm, this student read a poem to one of our coatimundis—who decided to climb all over her and become part of the story!

Field trips and animal encounters give students opportunities to connect reading, writing, science, creativity, and real-world experiences. A poem becomes more memorable when the animal you are reading about is right there beside you!

At Wild Woods Farm, learning does not have to stay inside a classroom. Students can observe animal behavior, ask questions, practice communication skills, and build memories that make lessons meaningful.

Bring your students to experience hands-on learning with more than 200 animals! Teachers, schools, homeschool groups, clubs, and youth organizations can email [email protected] to learn more about scheduling a field trip.
