I have moved! But don't worry. I'm still in the area. I now live in the Sawgrass East neighborhood in Carolina Forest. No show this year, but I did put up lights at the front of the neighborhood, at the pool house, and at my house. Stay tuned for future news!

A friend on the other side of Conway. Berry Family Lights. Rich Berry's house in Country Manor Estates off of Four Mile Road. I was over there tonight trying unsuccessfully to help him troubleshoot one of my controllers that he has. While there, I shot these videos of what was running (most of the show, minus the two spinners at the corners of the house). He is once again collecting money for charity, so stop by. He and his family are out every night to greet people, and they have hot chocolate available for a $1 donation.

It's nothing like in 2010 (no music), and it's more than 2015 (nothing), but here are pictures and video of Coastal Carolina Christmas 2016, the largest display since 2010. 1180 lights (2014 only had 800). The columns are wrapped in 200 lights each (100 white and 100 red). There are 9 candy canes (5 red, 4 green) each with 20 lights. They fade back and forth between the two colors. The 4 foot tall tree on the porch is my grandmother's old tree. She passed away in March of 2012. There are 200 lights on it (100 blue, and 100 gold) and the tree fades between the two colors. Feel free to stop by and take a look!

OK, I've had several people ask. So here's the news. There's not a show at my house. But I did team up with a man by the name of Rich Berry who is doing a show at his house this year. He is using some of my equipment, and I helped with some of the sequencing. He lives at 224 Hamilton Way, Conway, SC 29526. It's in Country Manor Estates off of Four Mile Road. He broadcasts on 87.9 FM. This year Rich is collecting donations for Ronald McDonald House. His goal is to try to raise $500 to give to them. You'll see a giant box in his driveway. This is where you can drop donations. His family is also set up across the street from the house selling hot chocolate. All money from that is being donated as well. The show runs 5:30-9:30 Sunday-Thursday, and 5:30-10:00 Friday and Saturday. Also, Rich told me about another local man by the name of Brad Faircloth who dropped by his display a few days ago. Apparently Brad is also doing a display this year (I'm going to have to go check it out myself). His address is 1439 Corbett Dr, Conway, SC 29526. Please enjoy the shows, and have a great rest of the Christmas season!

So ready to do another actual show next year. Already planning. And I have to get the computer involved again. Just 6 nights in and I can tell you after being so used to the computer doing everything that this plugging in and unplugging every day gets old fast!

For the first time since 2010 there are lights on the front of the house. This is the display for 2014. Small, but showing that I'm not dead. Next year will be a show like in years past. I figured 2015 is a good solid numbered year to start anew. For this year there are 800 lights: 400 of each blue and green.

What would you do with 48 of these?

By my best estimate we are 387 days away!

So umm...yeah...I waited too long this year to do much of anything. Being lazy caught up with me. BUT, be assured of this much...there will be lights (not a show) at least lit (probably not many) in 2013, and I have already committed to doing a show in 2014! So Coastal Carolina Christmas is NOT dead, just very dormant for way too long. I have decided to no longer shoot for a moving target for the start date, and thus Thanksgiving night 2014 will still be dark. December 1, 2014 will be the official lightup, and the show will, as always, run through December 31. So we have just under 13 months to go before the lights come back on! I best be getting busy! Lots to do and not enough time to do it.

1993: the year we got Snowball (our dog), the year of the tornado (November 14), the year of the fire (December 27), and the year of the first real display in KY. Not many lights...probably 700-1000 in that first year, but it was fun, and it was a start.

My mom passed away December 13 last year, so this entry is about her part of Christmas decorating, which has grown to be a large part of our indoor display. Many years ago she was into ceramics. We have a couple of nativity scenes that she has made that get put out. One of them is white, and the other painted. The painted one she always laughed about as being the only nativity on earth where one of the wise men had a goiter. She thought the spot was an ear, so she didn't cut off the excess before painting.

Her portion of the decorating started to grow in 1989. In November of that year, my sister and I were in a school bus accident which killed a good friend of ours. Mom needed something to get her mind off of this, so one day she purchased a couple of Department 56 Snow Village buildings. This first year we ended up with 4 of them set up on one of our pieces of furniture. This collection grew tremendously over time. At least one, and most of the time several new pieces were added each year. It grew to fill all of the furniture in one room of the house, the hearth (on two levels thanks to a couple of old crocks and a board), and the top of the piano, as well as a couple other places. Once we moved to SC, the collection took up most of the furniture in at least 3 different rooms. It grew so large that most years we would pick and choose pieces to display and pieces that would wait until the next year.

Last year the night before mom passed away, she was asleep in the hospital bed in the living room. She was surrounded by much of her Snow Village collection which we left on all night long. She passed at 11:40 on the morning of the 13th.

More trivia: early '80s...we moved from St. Matthews to Prospect, KY; just a few miles. For a couple years we put C7 lights around the railing of the deck in the back yard. I always enjoyed this because it was something that we did that made the house a little brighter. I believe 1987 or 1988 was the last year that we did this (we moved into the house in late 1985). More would come though as time progressed (of course...this page wouldn't be here if more didn't come, would it).
