💍 Three major wedding platforms. One parent company. What does that mean for couples and wedding vendors?
The Knot Worldwide—the company behind The Knot and WeddingWire—has announced an agreement to acquire Zola. The deal is still subject to closing conditions and regulatory clearances, but it raises a conversation worth having.
Here at Southern Flair Entertainment, we choose not to pay to advertise on any of these platforms. We have serious concerns about business practices within the wedding directory industry, including publicly reported vendor complaints involving lead quality, advertising promises, and restrictive contracts. The Knot has denied wrongdoing, but those concerns matter to us when deciding where our advertising dollars go.
Our position is simple: couples deserve transparency, and wedding professionals deserve fair treatment and meaningful value for their investment.
We’d love to hear BOTH sides of this conversation:
💍 COUPLES: Have these platforms helped you find and book your vendors, or do you mainly use their wedding websites, registries, and planning tools? Where have your best vendor recommendations actually come from?
🎤 WEDDING VENDORS: Have online directories brought you worthwhile bookings? What has your experience been with pricing, lead quality, contracts, and support—good or bad?
And for everyone: does bringing these brands under one company feel like an opportunity for better tools, or a concern about fewer independent choices?
A vendor’s decision not to advertise on a directory doesn’t tell you the quality of their work. Explore their portfolio, read reviews across multiple sources, ask for recommendations, and have a real conversation with them.
