Day 20 of paint-tober: After The Rain 💧

The leaves are changing and the cool autumn air is settling in. I don’t live somewhere with much of a change in seasons anymore, but I come from a place filled with golden aspens and bright orange leaves.

There’s something about this time of year that makes the world feel a little quieter, like everything is slowly settling down and the days are inviting us to slow down, too. I imagine a cozy afternoon spent by the window, watching raindrops trail down the glass, wrapped in a blanket with nowhere to be and nothing to do.

Maybe that’s what I love most about autumn. The gentle reminder that it’s okay to slow down, let go, and find a little peace in the stillness.

My thoughts on Paint-tober so far…

Every single painting I have seen has blown me away. I am so grateful for every single one of you. Whether you’re just watching or you’re painting along, thank you. You make this so much fun.

It’s HARD to paint every day. I haven’t been able to finish a painting every day but I have tried to and it’s so hard to find the time amidst my other activities and responsibilities.

But challenging myself to paint every single day is so much fun and having prompts to push my creativity is so good for me. I have experimented with new techniques and found things I can’t wait to implement in future paintings.

I’m learning to enjoy it even when the painting doesn’t turn out how I imagined it. Some ideas are better in my head and some are simply unfinished. I’m letting go of perfection and embracing what pours out within the timeframe I have.

I’m trying to remember that the goal isn’t to create 31 masterpieces. It’s to create, experiment, and enjoy the process along the way.

If you’ve been painting along with me, how’s it going? I’d love to hear your honest thoughts, too. ❤️

Day 14 of Paint-tober: Still Water 🌲✨

I didn’t have time to paint something new for today, so I’m sharing a project from my upcoming second book instead! 🤍

I love the way the warm sunset colors reflect across the water, and this is such a fun project for practicing simple landscape techniques and creating the illusion of still water.

If you’ve been wanting to learn to paint landscapes like this, my second book, The Ultimate Beginner’s Guide to Acrylic Painting, is available for preorder! It’s filled with step-by-step tutorials to help you build your skills and gain confidence with acrylics.

And if you’re following along with Paint-tober, you can absolutely use this as your inspiration for today’s prompt!

The most underrated step in painting with tape! Paint over the edges with your background color so it stops the color from bleeding underneath!
