Over 100 schools across the State of Iowa participated in the 2025-2026 Iowa High School Musical Theatre Awards, presented by EMC Insurance.

We are thrilled to announce that BCLUW’s Alice In Wonderland has been recognized for the following:

✨DISTINGUISHED SCENE AWARD
“It May Take Awhile, But You’ll Get There” ft. Allena Hupfeld as The Mock Turtle and Julianne Brown as Alice.

Besides our award, we have two students, seniors Allena Hupfeld and Adrienne Caster, who will be in the Opening Number at the Awards Showcase on Thursday, May 28 at 7PM at the Civic Center.

It will be live-streamed at https://www.iowapbs.org/ and broadcast on Iowa PBS at a later date. Tickets go on sale to the public on Friday, May 15 at 10am and can be purchased through DMPA.org or by calling the ticket office at 515.246.2300.

🌟 Fall Main Stage Production
🔦 Wait Until Dark (November 2026)
A classic suspense thriller, Wait Until Dark follows a blind woman trapped in her apartment as dangerous criminals search for a missing doll filled with diamonds. Full of twists, tension, and edge-of-your-seat moments, fans of the Audrey Hepburn film will not want to miss this one!

🏆 Competition One Act
🚪 Knock Knock (Iowa Thespian Festival, November 2026)
This fast-paced and side-splitting one act explores what happens when two delivery drivers, one jaded and one a rookie, arrive at various doors, encountering various recipients and their increasingly hilarious antics. We are excited to take this production to the Iowa Thespian Festival competition stage!

🎬 Spring One Acts (March 2027)

🪑The Candidate (Student Directed)
Directed by one of our talented students, The Candidate is a dystopian story where four individuals wake up with no memory. Put through a series of dangerous tests, it's clear they're competing for something.

📚 American History in 60 Minutes
A hilarious and high-energy race through American history, this production combines comedy, satire, and fast-paced storytelling to bring centuries of events and iconic moments to life in just one hour!

awaiting the next show
which soon will be there.

What better way to celebrate than to open our spring show! We will never be able to articulate the incredible unifying power of the dramatic arts entirely, so we’ll just keep celebrating the ways theatre crosses borders and connects the human experience. So glad to have this group of kids that believe so strongly in what they do. Congrats on a great opening, Anne of Green Gables!
